Dr. Samuel Lee (Chang-Woo Lee, 1931–2002) co-founded University Bible Fellowship with Missionary Sarah Barry in Kwangju, Korea on September 1, 1961. A graduate of Chongshin Presbyterian Seminary in Seoul, he served as a Presbyterian pastor with a vision to reach college students through inductive Bible study. Between 1968 and 1977 he produced Daily Bread devotional volumes covering the whole Bible, and in 1977 he relocated to establish UBF's world mission headquarters in Chicago. Under his leadership UBF sent lay missionaries to West Germany in 1969 and subsequently to chapters worldwide. He preferred the title "Shepherd" and is buried with that inscription.
