Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden."

I am very grateful that God blessed and accompanied our 13th surgical mission in Uganda this year, and for your constant prayerful support. Despite initial setbacks with participant cancellations and passport issues, the mission proceeded at a hospital in Mbale, supported by the Salem Uganda e.V. organization. In addition to the hospital, they also operate a nursing school, an orphanage, a sewing school, and a guesthouse, where we stayed and felt welcomed.

During our mission, we were wholeheartedly supported by the staff at the facility. Many of them are Christians. They had booked over 200 patients for us. Though we couldn't examine all of them, we at least saw and treated all the patients with a suspected thyroid problem. Esther served as our surgical coordinator and, over the course of a week, optimized the procedures so that in the end, everything ran smoothly.

This year, we were able to operate on 70 patients, including 12 thyroid surgeries, even though we only worked with two surgeons. A serious anesthesia complication was overcome through prayer and local assistance. On the Sunday before our departure, we were able to officially present a donation from our church to Makerere UBF, which was used to purchase a number of Bibles. In a poor country without stable internet access, a Bible in one's own language has special meaning.

I thank God that He has accompanied the medical mission with His spirit again this year. I pray that this mission will eventually lead to a personal encounter with Jesus for all participants.

One word: Jesus is the light of the world
