"Should I not have compassion on this great city, Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also many animals?" (Jonah 4:11)
There were four main theme messages. The first message was delivered by Dojeon H. (Gachon, Circuit Intern, Luke 19:1-10, "Zacchaeus! Hurry and come down!"), the second by Joseph N. (Yonsei, Jonah chapters 1 and 2, "The Pursuer of Love, God"), the third by Yerim K. (Gwangju 3, Jonah 3-4, "Should I not have compassion?"), and the fourth by Jeonjin Kim (Gachon, Circuit Intern, Luke 5:1-11, "From now on, you will catch men"). Through these messages, we deeply received God's heart that desires to save even wicked people like Nineveh. We were also empowered to overcome self-centeredness like Jonah and to share Jesus with anyone. On the first evening, through a play prepared by the students, we learned about God's heart in sending Jonah to Nineveh. The testimonies of the nine life reflection speakers were sincere and touching. Many students were blessed by their clear confessions of faith and commitments to God. Through a special lecture by Pastor Eunju J. (former Anointing minister), the participants received great comfort and were inspired to share their love for Jesus with their loved ones. On the second day, during the Night of Praise and Prayer, we joyfully praised God and deeply accepted the message "The Sign of Jonah" (Matthew 12:38-41) delivered by Shepherd Daniel B. (Gwanak 3), realizing that the cross is a sign of God's love for us. On the third day, after all the messages, during the final Night of Praise and Prayer, the students joyfully and passionately praised and prayed. Korea Director Pastor Nehemiah K. encouraged the students, calling them God's hope for this generation and challenging them to live as witnesses of the Gospel, to which the students responded with "Amen." On the last day, we enjoyed fellowship while traveling to Gyeongbu and Busan.
This conference was distinguished from previous ones in three ways. First, the preparation committee's shepherds prayed and discussed for a year to select the Book of Jonah as the theme for the conference and studied it deeply. Through this, the preparation committee received the Word first. Second, the conference was organized into six divisions (Planning Department, Word Ministry Department, Praise Department, Sound and Video Department, Promotion Department, Tour Department), with student leaders forming teams with the preparation committee shepherds to prepare the conference in detail. Third, it was a small group-centered conference. Fifty students were selected as small group leaders to receive leadership training and grow as shepherds, ensuring that no one among the attendees felt neglected. Guided by the trained students, activities, fellowship, foundational studies, and reflection meetings centered around small groups were well conducted.
We thank God for receiving the faithful prayers, hard work, and dedication of all the shepherds and greatly blessing the student conference. We pray that next year, as the students have decided, they will pray for and invite one soul each, leading to the participation of 800 attendees.
