(INDONESIA) Walk by the Spirit and Bear the Fruit of the Spirit: Indonesia Depok Center 2026 Summer Bible Conference

From August 15–August 17, 2026, Indonesia UBF held their Summer Bible Conference for two nights and three days at the Tridaya Resort Hotel in the Puncak area. We experienced special grace and unique challenges, from the preparation stage all the way through to its execution. Above all, with the missionaries unavoidably absent, this was a deeply meaningful conference in which the Indonesian local leaders and shepherds, with founder Abraham Jones, autonomously carried out every part of the process from selecting the Bible teachers, deciding the conference theme, organizing the program, and handling registration. Despite our many shortcomings, we give thanks and glory to God, who guided us through this entire journey.

1. Preparing for the Conference: The Local Shepherds' Independent Service

For about two months before the conference, the local shepherds gathered both online and in person three times a week, on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, to pray and prepare together. Since this was the first conference to be held without the missionaries' direct guidance and support, there was some concern at first, but under Abraham Jones's leadership and God’s grace, each leader faithfully carried out the role entrusted to them. From selecting and assigning the Bible teachers, to choosing the conference theme, planning the program schedule and handling registration and administrative work, everything was prepared through the willing and dedicated service of the local shepherds.

2. Prayer Topics During the Preparation Period

During the preparation period, we prayed together with one heart for two prayer topics. The first was that 110 people would attend the conference, and the second was that everyone who attended would come to personally know Jesus and live a fruit-bearing life. We also prayed earnestly that this would not end with the conference itself, but that everyone who attended would continue their walk with the Lord, continuing to study the word faithfully and attend Sunday worship regularly.

3. Conference Schedule

Since the conference venue is located in an area with heavy traffic, we departed from the center at 5:30 a.m. After arriving at the venue, we had breakfast, played some light games, and then had lunch before the conference began with the opening worship service. Hendra delivered the opening message titled “Rise, Take Up Your Mat, and Walk” from Mark 2:1-12, followed by group Bible studies. That night, Kefas delivered the first main message, “But Who Do You Say That I Am?” from Matthew 16:13-28.

On the second day, we began the day at 5:30 a.m. with personal prayer time and exercise. Following our second group Bible study session, Iman gave a sermon from 1 Corinthians 1:18-31, titled “We Preach Christ Crucified,” and Martin officiated Holy Communion. After lunch, we wrote our testimonies, shared them at our Bible studies, and listened to the main message of our conference delivered by Yusuf, “Walk by the Spirit and Bear the Fruit of the Spirit” from Galatians 5:16-26. That night, we had a Festival with a spirit of grace, featuring life testimonies from 7 people, special songs, dances, a mime performance, and skits prepared by each fellowship.

The third day of our conference happened to coincide with Indonesia's Independence Day, so the morning began with a commemorative event and Independence Day celebration. Rido closed the conference with a message from John 15:1-8, “How to Bear Much Fruit.”

4. God's Work of Grace

Since this conference was prepared and carried out by the local leaders and shepherds, we felt a good deal of concern and inadequacy before it began. Yet God used the preparation process itself to train and build up the local shepherds' faith, leadership, and dependence on God. During the conference, the Holy Spirit's anointing was on every message and every speaker, deeply touching the hearts of the brothers and sisters who attended. God answered our prayer for 110 people to attend, with a total of 112 attending, including 5 who came from the Jawang Center. Through the honest life testimonies shared by the seven speakers, dances, skits, the joyful sing-alongs and grace-filled special songs at every session, participants confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and praised Him with joy. We give thanks and praise to God, who accepted our unity and prayer and blessed this conference abundantly.

5. Prayer Topics After the Conference

Following the conference, we are praying for the ministry of the word as we study Numbers chapters 25–36, and that the local shepherds who have grown through this conference will continue to serve God's flock and raise disciples with a strong sense of responsibility and trust in Him.

We are also praying for a beautiful history of succession, from a missionary-centered ministry to local leadership. In addition, we ask for your continued prayers that all those who attended the conference for the first time may continue growing as faithful disciples of Jesus through consistent Bible study and regular Sunday worship.
