Buenos dias! Greetings from beautiful Bogotá, Colombia, where a training camp is being held for the Latin American conference messengers. All six messengers are here, together with mentors. Though it was not easy for them to make time, and it required much effort, they have come here positively and joyfully, with a sense of privilege in being chosen.
Saul L. (Guatemala), Efrain U. (Peru), Moses K. (Brazil), Jazmin R. (Mexico), Hugo H. (Venezuela), and John R. (USA) each shared their messages yesterday in the presence of the other messengers and the mentors: Isaac P. (LA Coordinator, Mexico), Josue C. (Chile), Raul M. (Mexico), Juan S., Ron and Dervilla W. (USA). The fruit of their devotion was evident. Each one has made remarkable progress, and their messages are sound and heart-moving. One by one, they received comments with humble hearts. I was deeply moved by the spiritual depth and sincerity of the commenters. It is clear that the national leaders in Latin America have matured a great deal, and the mentors were prayerful, loving, and wise. After receiving comments, each messenger continued to work on their messages. Some worked late into the night. We will have a final rehearsal this afternoon (March 1). Please continue to pray that each messenger will be filled with the Holy Spirit and be used as God’s instrument to speak his words to conference attendees.
We are very grateful for the wholehearted support and service of the Colombia chapter members, led by M. Andres P. His wife, M. Juana is recovering from surgery after a bad fall in December. During lunch, he suddenly had to leave for her doctor's appointment. He engaged his lovely teenage daughter Harym and precious coworker Carolina in hosting the guests. They have offered their hearts to God, and I believe he will bless Colombia UBF in many ways. Please pray for M. Juana's full recovery.
Yesterday, M. Isaac Park shared the good news with us that conference registration surpassed 600. He expects another 50 to register from Mexico alone. Special prayers are still needed for those traveling from other Latin American countries, including Honduras and Paraguay. Most urgently, please pray for two messengers, Saul and Hugo, to obtain visas to Mexico. They both have interviews on March 18. Hugo had to inquire in several countries before finally finding a possibility in Argentina. He must travel there for his interview.
We give God glory, thanks, and honor for his great work in Latin America. We are thankful for the worldwide prayer support for Latin America and for all those who have decided to attend from North America. The UBF members in the Americas are united in the love of Christ and our common faith in a way that transcends political turmoil. We pray to glorify God together as we remember 50 years of his work through UBF in Latin America and to receive a new vision for the next 50 years. We pray to deeply embrace the endless love of Jesus and to share this love as a fruit of this conference.
