JESUS HEALED THE BLIND AND THE MUTE
Key verse: 33
NIV
Jesus Heals the Blind and the Mute
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”(A)
28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they replied.(B)
29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”;(C) 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.”(D) 31 But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.(E)
32 While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed(F) and could not talk(G) was brought to Jesus. 33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”(H)
34 But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.”(I)

Jesus Heals Two Blind Men
27 (A)And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, (B)Son of David.” 28 When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 (C)Then he touched their eyes, saying, (D)“According to your faith let it be done to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, (E)“See that no one knows about it.” 31 (F)But they went away and spread his fame through all that district.
Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak
32 As they were going away, behold, a (G)demon-oppressed man who was mute (H)was brought to him. 33 And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds (I)marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”

More people heard about Jesus’ miraculous work. Two blind men met Jesus on the road. They recognized him as Son of David, the promised Messiah, and asked for his mercy (27). Jesus validated their faith and restored their sight by touching their eyes and showing himself as the Messiah (Isaiah 35:5). Although Jesus warned them not to spread the word, they could not contain their overwhelming joy, and the whole region heard about what Jesus had done.
Some people brought a man who was mute because of a demon. Jesus freed the man from the demon, and he could speak again. The crowd was amazed at seeing the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Messiah (Isaiah 42:7). However, those who opposed the gospel work became even more stubborn, accusing Jesus of being assisted by the prince of demons (34).
While Jesus is willing and able to heal, restore, and free each one of us, those who choose to remain in the darkness will not see the light (John 3:20). Would you come, meet Jesus the Messiah today, and ask for his mercy, inviting his light into your heart?
Prayer: Father, I trust Jesus to have the power and authority over my life. Please help me to have a humble heart to seek him and ask for his mercy.
One Word: Believe in Jesus
