Uganda attained independence from Britain on October 9, 1962. Every year, Makerere UBF holds an Independence Retreat focused on spiritual independence. This year, they focused on Proverbs 14:34: "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people". Through the main message, Sister Vivian exhorted brothers and sisters to be more mindful of spiritual independence and to grow in the confidence of what that independence offers us. The retreat brought together over 120 participants, including students from Makerere University and neighbouring universities, who gathered to reflect on the true meaning of freedom in Christ. Through deep Bible study, heartfelt testimonies, a poem, and earnest prayer, participants were challenged to grow in personal faith and take responsibility for their spiritual lives. The event strengthened fellowship among university students and inspired many to renew their commitment to live by the Word of God and serve God’s mission on their campuses.
