Conference Category: Fall Staff Shepherd Conference
Chapter: Chapter staff members in Korea UBF
Dates: October 21 to 23, 2024
Location: ICC Hotel in Daejeon
Title: “Comfort My People” (Isaiah 40:1)
Staff members and missionaries from across the country convened to study the Book of Proverbs through two lectures, special talks, and fellowship. Together, they prayed for the upcoming Fall Conference in India, the 50th Anniversary International Conference in Latin America next year, and for gospel work during the fall semester.
Pastor Nehemiah Kim delivered the opening message on the theme “Comfort My People” (Isaiah 40:1). He emphasized how God's message of comfort for the Israelites in Babylonian captivity helped them find hope and strength amid despair. Similarly, the conference aimed to establish new turning points in attendees' lives through God's comfort. Participants engaged in deep fellowship with co-workers while exploring the teachings of Proverbs, finding solace and recharging their souls. Afterward, attendees studied Proverbs 16-17 under the theme “Wisdom for Managing Life.” They learned the importance of relying on God, who oversees all events, and living lives entrusted to Him. In the evening, Professor Joo Jong-hoon from Chongshin University delivered a special lecture titled “The Scandal of Evangelical Ministry: Virtues for Shaping the Life of a Minister.” He stressed the need for continuous internal training among ministers to combat sin and foster spiritual growth.
Despite rain throughout the day on the second day, attendees walked with umbrellas, engaged in conversation, and enjoyed team fellowships.
On the third day, the group studied Proverbs 18-19, focusing on “The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower.” They discussed the power of God’s name as a source of protection and refuge, emphasizing the importance of living in righteousness to strengthen their community. Following this session, a staff meeting was held to share prayer topics for missionaries in the field, pray for gospel work on campus, and apply the lessons from Proverbs throughout the fall semester. Attendees also prepared their hearts for the upcoming World Mission Report in Korea in 2026.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity for mutual fellowship and a time to receive God’s grace and rest. Praise God!
