“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

Makerere UBF was pioneered by Missionary Samuel Yoo in 1992. After 33 years, leadership was changed from missionaries (Samuel Yoo, Luke Lim, and Livingstone Kang) to a native leader, Steven. I would like to share some testimonies of what God has done through a few thanksgiving topics.

I am grateful for the appointment of Steven as Makerere UBF’s new chapter director in Uganda. The term for Missionary Livingstone Kang, who has served since 2016, will end this year. Like other chapters in Africa, we have been persistently praying for a native leader in the Makerere chapter in Uganda.

However, a year ago, Steven, who was the deputy director and a strong candidate for director, suddenly suffered a stroke and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Medically, it was said that even if he recovered from the stroke, there would be side effects. Precious coworkers around the world fervently prayed for his recovery. God heard these prayers and showed His grace and mercy. Miraculously, he not only recovered without side effects but also delivered a powerful and grace-filled Sunday message last week after a year.

Moreover, Allan, another candidate for chapter director, personally visited me last Sunday, saying he believed that God wanted him to be a missionary in Tanzania after much prayer. Five local leaders and four missionary brothers were supposed to vote for the chapter director’s election. However, after explaining the situation, everyone agreed to appoint Steven as the director and David, who came to Uganda from China in 2008 and has served for 17 years, as the deputy director.

Allan shared his testimony about how he decided to serve as a missionary in Tanzania. The day of the director’s election was a time to experience God's grace and guidance. I am thankful and praise God for answering two of the five prayer topics this year: to send a long-term missionary to Tanzania and to raise a new chapter director. Thank you for your prayers.

Prayer Topics:
  1. May God fill Steven with the Holy Spirit to serve God’s ministry.
  2. May God give Steven strength and wisdom to serve the ministry.
  3. May God send Allan to Tanzania as a permanent missionary.
