The second session of the House Church Forum took place via Zoom on September 16, 2026. God richly blessed the gathering, which brought together approximately 50 house church leaders. The session’s highlight was Luke Hong’s presentation on the biblical and historical context of the house church, followed by group discussions about the identity of UBF house churches. He addressed the kind of church we seek to build and ways to develop better practices in house church ministry.

Participants discussed how house churches should be defined, how they relate to pioneering churches and other models of church, and whether ministry success should be measured by numerical growth or by faithfulness to God’s word. They also raised concerns about effectively serving children and next-generation disciples in small ministries, learning from past mistakes, and ensuring that families receive appropriate support. Other topics included intentionally raising leaders, strengthening networks across chapters, and creating opportunities for coworkers to take responsibility. Finally, Pastor Ron Ward encouraged the leaders by emphasizing the vital role of house churches in UBF ministry.

Overall, the session gave participants a valuable opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns about house church ministry. We prayerfully look forward to the third session on September 23, when we will explore several specific issues facing UBF house churches in greater depth. May God bless us as we move forward together to build a stronger house church ministry.
