Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” (John 1:14a)
As we in Chicago savor warm summer days, we know that the fall season is approaching swiftly, and soon Christmas will be upon us. This season invites us to reflect on the profound grace of Jesus’ incarnation. It’s awe-inspiring to consider the glory and majesty He relinquished in heaven to come into our world and dwell among us. He gave up everything—His life, ultimately—to save us from our sins and offer us eternal life. Through His grace, we are truly rich, becoming children of God with a glorious inheritance in His everlasting kingdom. Remembering His sacrifices moves us to give sacrificially, allowing others to experience His blessings.
Recently, the UBF International Executive Board (IEB) gathered for prayer and discernment, and we have decided to dedicate the 2026 UBF Christmas offering to two vital initiatives: the Bethesda Mission Hospital in Uganda and the Inter-African Conference in 2027.
The Bethesda Mission Hospital was established by UBF missionaries with the unwavering financial and prayer support of our entire community. It has become a beacon of hope, providing essential medical care and reflecting God’s love in countless lives. Under the dedicated management of our missionaries, the hospital has continually grown. And now we have the opportunity to complete its original construction plan by adding more stories. Your generous contributions will bless many individuals—people you may never meet—by allowing them to experience the tangible love of Jesus.
In addition to supporting the hospital, we aim to assist UBF leaders in Africa as they prepare for the Inter-African Conference in 2027. This gathering, which will unite leaders from across the vast continent, is a significant logistical undertaking. While our African leaders are committed to covering their costs, they will need support from UBF Headquarters, and a portion of your offering will help make this possible.
The work of our UBF missionaries in Africa shines brightly in this world’s darkness. Many of them left Korea in their youth, sacrificing opportunities and comforts to serve there in regions often lacking basic necessities like clean water, nutritious food, and medical care. They have endured hardships to share the gospel with African youth, and their sacrifices, made with cries and tears, have not gone unnoticed by God. He has blessed their efforts in remarkable ways, raising a generation of native leaders who embody the gospel and a self-supporting spirit. These leaders are crucial to transforming Africa into a vibrant, missionary-sending continent.
It is a profound privilege for our UBF community to stand alongside these missionaries and African leaders—praying, supporting, and giving sacrificially to further God’s work through them. I invite you to prayerfully consider participating in this year’s UBF worldwide Christmas offering. As the Lord moves your heart, please give generously. May God bless you abundantly, and may God bless Africa!
