(LATIN AMERICA) 2026 Next Generation Latin America Conference: Expect Great Things from God; Attempt Great Things for God!

William Carey, a shoemaker and pastor, spoke these words to awaken the Christians of his generation to the need to take the gospel to other nations. Based on Isaiah 54:2–3, he understood that the church must act in faith and advance the missionary work. At the 2026 Next Generation Latin America Conference, we meditated on this call to leave behind the things of the world, live courageously according to biblical teaching, and share the gospel.
The opening message, delivered by Missionary John Rhee, was an invitation to carry out the work of God. Like Shamgar, many people go unnoticed, yet God can use them powerfully as deliverers of His people. Pastor Jorge R. shared a message from Daniel 3, and through the faith of Daniel’s friends, exhorted the next generation to resist social pressure and remain firm in their faith until the end. Missionary John shared a message from Acts 4, reminding us like Peter and John, we must obey God rather than men. Missionary Moses P. preached from Romans 12 and invited the young adults to not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewal of their minds and live according to biblical teaching. Missionary Jorge A. delivered the Sunday worship message based on Matthew 5:1– 16. The focus was on being salt and light in the world. We must be “well salted with the gospel” and reflect the light of the Lord to the world. Finally, Missionary Josué C. closed the conference with Nehemiah 13:30–31. Through Nehemiah’s prayer, “Remember me, O my God, for good,” he reminded us that although our limitations may sometimes prevent us from doing very much, we can always pray.
Missionary Ester gave a brief presentation on the life of William Carey and shared her experience as a missionary in Spain. Verónica G. led a workshop on dating, exhorting the young adults to place this area of their lives in God’s hands and to prepare themselves and grow spiritually so that they may love and serve the Lord.
We also give thanks for Missionaries Goheun P., Edith N., Eva A., and María C., who faithfully led the Bible studies and encouraged the young adults to write and share their reflections on the passages studied.
The young adults and students enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship, both during the conference and the outing to Santo Domingo.
Above all, we thank God because the participants opened their hearts, shared their struggles, and expressed their desire to live with the spirit of William Carey: to expect great things from God and attempt great things for God.
During the conference, we prayed for the Dominican Republic. Missionaries Jorge and Isabel have faithfully served in the ministry among Dominican university students and youth. We pray that twelve disciples of Jesus Christ may be established at UASD by the year 2030. We thank God for giving us the opportunity to gather at UASD and pray for this ministry and for the evangelization of the Caribbean islands.
Organizing this conference presented many challenges. But God provided according to His grace, and all things worked together for good and for the glory of His name. We praise our heavenly Father for blessing this conference. We praise our Lord Jesus Christ for guarding and sustaining the lives of this precious next generation. We praise the Holy Spirit for touching their hearts and placing within them the desire to live for God according to his perfect plan and purpose for their lives. We pray that God may continue to guide these young people and raise them as leaders of their generation. We pray that each one of them may expect great things from God and attempt great things for God.
