1. Jehoiachin surrenders (8-12) Jehoiachin became king when he was eighteen years old. Right away the Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to the city of Jerusalem. Jehoiachin could only surrender to the power of the Babylonians. Jehoiachin reigned only three months. Then he was taken prisoner. 2. Exiled to Babylon (13-17) Nebuchadnezzar plundered the temple and the city, carrying all Jerusalem, including the king, into exile. He took everything of value from the temple, as the Lord had declared. Many prophets spoke of the destruction the Lord was bringing. People didn't listen to what the Lord declared. Now the Lord brought his declaration upon them. Of all the treasures, the word of the Lord is most valuable.

Prayer: Lord, help me to take your word seriously. You declared judgment on sin. Help me to treasure your word.
