(LATVIA) Riga UBF's Summer Bible Retreat "You Are the Christ"

Riga UBF held a 3-day, 2-night summer retreat in the suburbs of Riga during the last week of July. Centered around the growing disciples who consistently attend worship services, a total of 10 people participated: 3 missionaries, 2 second-generation missionaries, and 5 growing disciples. The retreat, featuring both the Word of God and fellowship, was held under the title "You Are the Christ."
On the first evening, Sister Eliza S. delivered the message. Through the passage from Luke 5, where Peter is called a fisher of men, she testified to the grace of Jesus, who calls and uses the unworthy for God's good work. Following the message, Missionary Timothy K., Missionary Andreana, and Sisters Elizabete, Victoria, Angelica, and Sophia shared their life experiences. Missionary Andreana testified to the grace of Jesus, who called someone living without any hope to live the life as a fisher of men. Sister Elizabete grew up in a faithful Catholic family. She testified about God's grace, which faithfully guides us even through difficulties such as fear, anxiety, and worry about the future. She testified that Jesus, the light of the world, faithfully guides us even amidst various difficulties.
On the second day, Missionary Esther K. led us in the study of the main message, "You Are the Christ." Samuel K. prepared and delivered the sermon with power. As a second-generation missionary, he had attended church for a long time but lived a life like an old wineskin. However, he came to have a deep sense of critical awareness regarding life after experiencing the diagnosis and passing of loved ones. He confessed and testified that, while enduring the most difficult period of his life, he came to deeply and personally encounter Jesus as the Christ.
In the evening, Missionary Timothy K. lectured on the history of UBF. Through the history of UBF, we were grateful to learn about the absolute faith in God's Word of the early missionaries Samuel Lee and Sarah Barry, as well as the sacrifice and service offered by our predecessors in faith to help the youth of Korea.
The second generation and growing disciples took the lead for this conference, preparing the message with a sense of ownership and serving in the programs. Although we are lacking, we pray that Riga UBF will raise up disciples of Jesus and be used as faithful workers of the gospel in the history of the gospel in Latvia.
