"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." -1 Corinthians 11:1

God blessed the 16th Uganda healing mission abundantly. In 2007, one medical student participated in the first Uganda healing mission. But this time, he participated as a medical doctor (gastroenterologist) with his son, a middle school student. He was very happy because he could do an ultrasound scan with the portable machine when he diagnosed patients, although the camp was a remote village. We could treat 1,128 internal medicine and pediatric patients and 164 dental patients for 4 days. With Jesus’ heart for the little children, we treated all patients one by one as we treated Jesus.

The particular point was that among 23 visitors, 16 members were second generation. They are all energetic. They co-worked as volunteers in the dental clinic and pharmacy. They evangelized by showing skit drama. In skit drama, people could learn God’s great love for us, sending Jesus Christ, who died for us on the cross and restored us as God’s children. They also served them in various activities, including nail art, CCD (Contemporary Christian Dancing), public health education, and playing football with children. Their zeal to serve Ugandan people, even in a very poor environment, moved me greatly. All of them looked so lovely and precious. I learned how important it is to raise the next generation who can succeed in this ministry.

Because of the dry season, it is usually very hot in the Busia district. But God answered our prayers and gave us good weather during the medical camp. On the end of the last day of medical camp, it rained shortly. In Africa, rain is a blessing during the dry season. But if it rains heavily, a bus cannot pass the very muddy road. By God’s grace, we could carry on medical camp successfully under the proper rain. Through this medical camp, we prayed that we might learn Jesus Christ, who humbled himself for saving us. On the second day of the healing mission, we slept on the island. Accommodation was poor. It was cold for me to sleep on the floor. I could not but meditate on Jesus, who suffered a lot for serving us. Others also could learn about Jesus through experiencing difficulties. Thankfully, our second generations did not complain. They enjoyed it all together. They said, "Next year, we will come again."
After the healing mission team left, the Minister of Health announced that the medical camp would be suspended temporarily because of the Ebola Virus outbreak in Uganda. We all praised God, who protected the medical team and blessed the medical camp abundantly.

Prayer topics:
  1. May the kingdom of God expand through medical camp.
  2. May God protect people in Uganda from the Ebola virus outbreak.
