O Lord, Deliver My Life
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments; according to (A)The Sheminith.[a] A Psalm of David.6 O Lord, (B)rebuke me not in your anger,
nor (C)discipline me in your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
(D)heal me, O Lord, (E)for my bones are troubled.
3 My (F)soul also is greatly troubled.
But you, O Lord—(G)how long?
4 Turn, O Lord, deliver my life;
save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5 For in (H)death there is no remembrance of you;
in Sheol who will give you praise?
6 I am (I)weary with my (J)moaning;
every night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My (K)eye wastes away because of grief;
it grows weak because of all my foes.
8 (L)Depart from me, all you (M)workers of evil,
for the Lord (N)has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my (O)plea;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;
they shall (P)turn back and be put to shame in a moment.

David sinned and received God’s rebuke and discipline. When he was chastened by God, he felt physical and spiritual pain. Yet David believed God’s love even when God was disciplining him. He believed that God would return to him and restore him. He trusted that God would deliver him from the grave and resurrect him (5).
David cried before the Lord with tears of repentance throughout the night. He believed that God would accept his tears for mercy and would remove his enemies and restore him to victory. Let’s learn David’s attitude and prayer of repentance, crying through the night for forgiveness and restoration. Let’s believe God’s love even when he refines us through his mighty hand and turn to him with new hearts.
Prayer: Father, thank you for your mercy and salvation from sin and death through Jesus. Please help me to turn to you in prayer for your forgiveness and restoration when I sin against you.
One Word: The Lord hears the prayer of repentance
