Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.(A) You believe(B) in God[a];(C) believe also in me. 1. Believe in God; believe in Jesus (1-4) The disciples' hearts were troubled, for Jesus would be leaving soon. But Jesus told them he was leaving for a great purpose. He promised them he was going to prepare a place for them, so he would return one day and take them to be with him. God's house has many rooms. Jesus has prepared a room for each of us and one day we will go and be with him. How can our hearts be troubled when we know Jesus is waiting for us to join him? 2. Jesus is the way to the Father (5,6). Thomas asked Jesus how they could know the way to where Jesus was going? They wanted to go and be with Jesus. They wanted a road map so they could follow him. We don't need a road map to follow Jesus. We don't need directions to come to God. Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. He is all we need to come to God. He is the only way there is to the Father.

Prayer: Lord, help me to follow Jesus. He is the only way to you. Help me put aside my anxieties and simply follow Jesus.

One Word: Jesus is the way and the truth and the life
