1. The Lord's throne is established (1-2)
The Lord God is the Sovereign Ruler. He is armed with strength. He is the one worthy of all our praise and worship. To know him and obey him is the chief purpose of life. His throne is eternal; he was before, is now, and ever will be.
2. Mightier than the seas (3-5)
Perhaps the Psalmist wrote this psalm while looking out over the vast expanse of the sea. No one can tame the sea. Sometimes it is gentle and peaceful and looks romantic. But sometimes it is a raging, foaming torrent that overwhelms everything and defies all man's efforts to keep it in check. The sea roars with a mighty voice, but the Lord on high created the seas. He is mightier than the roaring, pounding sea. Once his Spirit hovered over the waters, and he brought order out of chaos by his word of power. His laws make an orderly and secure environment for all his creatures.
into the book of nature and I praise you for your wisdom and might.
Prayer: Lord, I reflect on the laws which you wrote
One Word: The Sovereign Lord reigns
