First, blessing the Israelites (22-26). God wanted to bless the Israelites. God did this through the priests. He instructed Aaron and his sons on how to bless the Israelites. The blessing emphasized God's love and care for his people. The LORD would keep them as his own. The LORD's face would shine on them and turn toward them as a loving Father does toward his children. The LORD would be gracious to them and give them peace. True blessing is having a love relationship with God. Second, God's name on the Israelites (27). Aaron and his sons would bless the Israelites by putting God's name on them. By putting his name on the Israelites, the LORD was calling them his own people. God committed himself to his people and would bless them.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for blessing us and putting your name on us. May your face shine on us and be gracious to us.

One Word: The Lord bless you and keep you
