This psalm praises the LORD our God as the just, righteous and holy King. The LORD God reigns from Zion, his holy mountain, in his temple, between the cherubim (angels). The LORD God is exalted over all the nations. Praise his great and awesome name! The LORD is the mighty King, who loves justice, doing what is just and right. Twice the psalmist calls us to exalt and worship the LORD, for he is holy (5,9).
Moses, Aaron and Samuel stood as intercessors and representatives before God for the people. They called on God and he answered them. God is a forgiving God, though he punishes misdeeds (Heb 12:6). God is still holy, and still worthy of our worship. Exalt the LORD our God and worship him, for he is holy.
Prayer: I exalt and praise you, Lord God, for you are the holy King of kings. I praise you that you are a forgiving God. Cleanse me of all sin and enable me to worship and serve you today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
One Word: Exalt and worship God, who is holy
