HE WHO BELIEVES IN JESUS OVERCOMES THE WORLD!

Faith in the Incarnate Son of God

5 Everyone who believes(A) that Jesus is the Christ(B) is born of God,(C) and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.(D) 2 This is how we know(E) that we love the children of God:(F) by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands.(G) And his commands are not burdensome,(H) 4 for everyone born of God(I) overcomes(J) the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.(K)

6 This is the one who came by water and blood(L)—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.(M) 7 For there are three(N) that testify: 8 the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9 We accept human testimony,(O) but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God,(P) which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony.(Q) Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar,(R) because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life,(S) and this life is in his Son.(T) 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.(U)

Overcoming the World

5 (A)Everyone who believes that (B)Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and (C)everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 2 (D)By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For (E)this is the love of God, that we (F)keep his commandments. And (G)his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For (H)everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. Testimony Concerning the Son of God

6 This is he who came (K)by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And (L)the Spirit is the one who testifies, because (M)the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. 9 (N)If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God (O)that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God (P)has the testimony in himself. 1. Everyone born of God overcomes the world (1-5) Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. He loves the Father and loves others obeying the command of the Father God. So everyone who loves the Father loves his children as well. But it is not easy to do so in this world that goes against God and makes us hate each other more than love one another because of sin. However, everyone born of God overcomes the world by faith in Jesus as Jesus, the Son of God overcame the world and Satan (Jn 16:33). 2. Whoever has the son has eternal life (6-12) Two human testimonies are enough as witnesses. But God gave 3 testimonies to testify to Jesus: Jesus came by water (Baptism, John's witness) and blood (His death, the scripture's witness) and by the Spirit of truth (the Holy Spirit who came on him testifying his being the Son of God). Whoever believes in him was given life, eternal life that is in his Son. Whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving us victory in Jesus who overcame the world. Thank you for giving us the eternal life in Jesus. Help me to love others.
