Key Verse: Mark 3:14-15  “He appointed twelve designating them apostles that they might be with them and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons. “

On November 29, Makerere UBF held the Disciples Day meeting, welcoming 14 new student disciples and two new shepherds.  The opening prayer was led by Missionary Abigail followed by reciting the UBF pledge led by Shep. Michael Kabulu.  All attendants recited with one voice following Shep. Michael.

One:  We are soldiers of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us correctly handle the word of God and establish a Christian view of life.

Two:  We are soldiers of the Lord Jesus Christ. For the sake of Bible Uganda and World Mission, we voluntarily participate in the suffering of Christ.

After reciting the pledge, M. Dr. Joseph Chung delivered a message based on Mark 3:13-19 with the title, “Jesus Appointed the Twelve.” After that we listened to the testimony of new disciple candidates one by one. Everyone wrote a two-page testimony based on Jesus’ calling of the twelve apostles and their personal response and decisions.  This year we raised 14 disciples and two new shepherds. They are the fruits of our missionaries and native leaders’ one to one Bible studies and their labor of love for them.

In Feb, 2011, God raised 12 student disciples. In September of 2012, God raised 12 disciples. Among them, five were promoted as shepherds in January of 2014.  They are Shep. Zacchaus, Collins, Tom, Michael, and Shepherdess Juliet Nakato.  They had been faithful and had grown as the Bible teachers and stewards of Makerere UBF. We thank God for these precious works of God in our fellowship.

This year we raised the out numbers of disciples because they waited for two years. Most of them studied Bible more than two years and faithfully attended Sunday Worship Service. Their names are Enoch, Michael, Innocent, Martin, Nelson, Andrew, Perez, Davis, Mike, Henry, Richard, and sister Allen, Madrine, Esther Najjemba (three sisters). Two new shepherd names are James and Dr. Patience.   After their UBF pledge one by one, we prayed for them and welcomed them as disciples officially and began our disciples’ meeting. The minutes from the last meeting were read by Shepherdess Lillian Ogwang and financial report by Missionary Rebekah Lim. We had a cake cutting ceremony and showered them with gifts.  We are praying for them sincerely to grow in God’s holy mission and as disciples of Jesus in our generation. Amen!
