Introduction to Bethesda Mission Hospital

BMH is located in front of the main entrance of the Makerere National University, right in the heart of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, known as the pearl of Africa.  The facility was established in 2002 to provide quality health services, currently consisting of three trusted medical professionals (two missionaries and a native),  two pediatricians (missionaries), a specialist in ophthalmology (missionary), a plastic surgeon (missionary), a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology (native), a dentist (native), an acupuncturist (missionary), a pharmacist (missionary), an optometrist (Korean) and 10 local native staff members (three nurses, two clinical pathologists, two guards, a janitor, an ambulance driver, an accountant), which totals 22 people who are serving in this hospital. Our hospital is the only endoscope-specialized hospital in Uganda, which has been equipped with all the upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy. Furthermore, we are a branch of Vision Care Service in Uganda, which is the international blindness prevention organization and manages an optical store inside of the hospital. Through these facilities we conduct cataract surgery, ocular diseases treatment and education of prevention of blindness and eye examination of elementary school students. We are also striving to become the congenital facial deformities and cleft palate surgery center. Currently, we operate two central operating rooms and seven wards. We purchased a land of 5,000 Pyong (equivalent to 16,529 square meter) on the way to Entebbe Airport and are praying with a vision of establishing a general hospital and an institute for tropical diseases here.

The Vision, Mission and Core Values of Bethesda Mission Hospital are as follows:
