On Oct 14, we exchanged 20 million Korean Won supported by Korean UBF Headquarters into USD $ 18,727 through a local Korean resident living in Cairo. I and my co-worker, M. So-won Kim, entered Juba, South Sudan bringing $ 17,281 excluding air tickets and entry fee on October 18.

After an interview with the president of the University of Juba on October 20, on the very next day, we deposited $9,000 equivalent to 46,350 South Sudanese pounds to the university bank account as the scholarship fund. The Juba University in South Sudan is the best university, and around 10, 000 to 15,000 enrolled students are attending. But they do not have enough money to operate even a dormitory due to the economic difficulties, and many students also are asking for help. The scholarship fund we handed over to them can pay 53 students’ one-year tuition. (53 student beneficiaries among many suffering students supported by University were chosen by Sh. Oyor Moses through interview.) On this campus our brothers and sisters are having Bible studies every week. We did not have to ask permission from the university president. Rather, he first, out of his gratitude, suggested providing us a meeting place on campus. Thank God that our financial aid becomes a practical help and encouragement to them!

On October 24, we visited the refugee camps in the city of Juba and delivered 402 sacks of flour (8,040 Kg), 60 sacks of Lentle (3,000 Kg), and 408 liters of cooking oil. (This camp consists of gathered refugees from the civil war zone in October last year. Currently there are more than 800 families.)

We were so thankful to God to see that both we the givers and they the receivers were glad and grateful. Above all, I was so moved and impressed by them to see that they thanked God. Thank God that Korea UBF Headquarters’ support and love can practically help and encourage them including our UBF leaders!

In Christ,

M. Andrew Kim
