The earthquake in Japan was most severe in the coastal areas. We haven’t confirmed yet the safety of all the missionaries in Japan, but they may not have been severely affected since they are mainly living inland. However, we are wondering about the missionaries Seong-Jin and Mi-Hyeon in Sendai, which was the epicenter of the earthquake. We tried to contact them, but we could not make it due to phone lines being down. Please pray for their safety, and I will let you know as soon as possible if I get in touch with them.

I have experienced an earthquake every year in Tokyo, but this earthquake is the largest I have ever experienced.  I live on the fourth floor and our bowls and plates were broken. However, no one was injured, and my family and co-workers are safe. There are continuing aftershocks.  On TV, it says this is the most powerful earthquake in 140 years since they started measuring earthquakes. Currently, the Tokyo subway has stopped running. The government is directing people to stay in safe places, such as schools or at work. I will stay at school with our students.

Please pray for God’s mercy on our missionaries, especially our co-workers in Sendia and the people in Japan.

M. Daniel, Tokyo
