Ecuador UBF Annual Report

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5)

Praise the living God who leads his salvation work around the world.  I’d like to review and report God’s work in Ecuador during last year 2011.

1.   God strengthened Ecuadorian shepherdesses.

God gave my coworker, M. Hannah Kim, his grace to be able to visit Korea twice last year. The first visit was with our three children, and then the second was to attend the 50th year anniversary of UBF and to have surgery.  As a result, she couldn’t support the work of God in Ecuador very much.  But God raised three sisters and they grew as Bible teachers.

The three sisters wrote and shared their daily bread, participated in fishing and prepared Bible study material for Genesis.  They wanted to be used as Bible teachers.  God enabled them to serve many sheep with God’s word.

Shepherdess Luisa (Medicine 3) served her classmates with God’s word through a group Bible study. Shepherdess Lady (Architecture 4) invited her classmate Brother Dudsan to Bible study and gave us hope to raise an Abraham of faith. Shepherdess Lisbeth (Medicine 2) took care of Sister Pauleth (Business Adm. 1) who came regularly to 1:1 Bible study and Sunday worship service.  After Sunday worship service, they had a group Bible study and wrote one testimony per week faithfully. They grew through this.  Shs. Luisa and Lady paid back the money they borrowed from the ministry in 2010 in order to participate in Venezuelan Bible Conference. They confessed that they learned heart of a debtor and experienced great freedom when they paid back the debt. We received much grace seeing their challenging faith to seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness in time of financial difficulty.

In 2011 we couldn’t raise one student disciple candidate. But God raised Sh. Lisbeth’s mother, Rosa, as a disciple candidate and coworker. Sister Pauleth and Brother Dudsan grew as the fruit of 1:1 ministry.

At Christmas worship service, the three sheperdesses prepared testimonies, a drama, a dance, praise and food. They invited sheep and their family members, so it was a joyful celebration with 33 attendants.

2.   The Lord was shepherd of my family

God blessed Missionary Hannah Kim and my three children to be able to visit Korea through the help of my parents and Kyung Sung UBF.  Especially, M. Hannah could have surgery safely. M. Hannah and my children received much love and were served by UBF coworkers and family. They were comforted and strengthened. I thank God for his grace. I praise God for using our family continuously in his redemptive history in Ecuador during the last one year 2011 in spite of our weaknesses.

3.   New Year direction and prayer topics

“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.” (2 Timothy 4:2)

In January 2012, God helped us to have a New Year’s Leaders’ Conference with 4 disciples. We studied the Bible and wrote and shared our key verse symposium and spiritual direction for the New Year.  Especially, God gave me 2 Timothy 4:2 as my key verse:  “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.” Also, through the study of Acts, God gave us eager desire to preach the gospel and experience the power of the Holy Spirit. This year we are praying to hold a 2 nights & 3 days Easter conference. We want to invite many new sheep. We pray that our shepherdesses may grow as stewards of the work of God in Ecuador. We pray that God may raise one Abraham of faith and 12 disciples of Jesus.

In 2012 may our coworkers in Ecuador and I obey the key verse sincerely and grow in our inner life. We eagerly pray to be faithful sowers of the gospel in the campuses in Guayaquil. May God use our family and the shepherdesses in his precious work.

Prayer Topics:

1. Ministry of the book of Acts in 2012
2. M. Andres’ Sunday messages and his work.
3. To raise one Abraham and 12 disciples (Spiritual growth of three shepherdesses and raising brothers)
4. Restoration of M. Hannah’s health and an open door for self-support
5. Second Gen Missionaries, Joo-Wang, Kim (16), Ester (15), Andres(12) may meet Jesus personally.
