Jesus, the Bread of Eternal Life

Our key verse for this conference was John 6:35, “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” Our Lord died on a cross and rose on the third day so we may be cleansed of our sins, and that we may participate in the eternal kingdom of God. I pray that all the participants may have vision of the kingdom of God and that we may live in this world looking for the bread that endures to eternal life and not the bread that spoils. In keeping with this, we had the following main messages: “How Were We Originally?” (Gen. 1:26-2:3) by M. Gonzalo; “Jesus, the Bread of Eternal Life” (Jn. 6:22-71) by Sh. Eduardo; “It is Finished” (Jn. 19:1-42) by Sh. Marco; and “Ezra’s Decision” (Ezr. 7:1-28) by Sh. Claudio.

We held this conference with our coworkers from UBF Monterrey II, Saltillo UBF, Tepic UBF and Zapopan UBF, with 17 attendants. From Guadalajara UBF there were 62 attendees. We pray that the sheep that attended may continue one to one Bible study faithfully and that the second generations may grow as coworkers and leaders for new generations.

I thank God for the songs by the worship team, and the members of the orchestra and the Mexican folkloric dance. I pray also for the young people that presented a modern dance, that with the same spirit they may grow as Jesus’ disciples. In light of the upcoming International Summer Bible Conference, we presented a play in English with subtitles in Spanish. M. Goheun got the script for the play and served the play helping leaders with their English pronunciation, acting and scenery. The leaders liked it so much that some actors asked for more lines in their scripts, and some other leaders asked to create more characters so they could participate, too. I pray that the leaders may study English diligently and be prepared not only for the international conference, but also to become international Bible teachers.

During the second and third evenings we did some team activities. Congratulations to the yellow team that won the sport event and the blue team that won the rally! We had a good time of fellowship and team work.

I am thankful for the testimonies that the new disciples from Guadalajara UBF and Sh. Raul from Tepic UBF shared during the conference. I pray that they may grow as great Bible teachers. Gideon Kim from Zapopan UBF and Jessica from Monterrey II UBF shared their life testimonies. I pray that they may become good coworkers for the missionaries from each chapter. The last day, before Sunday Worship Service, D. Juan Carlos and D. Malena were established as shepherds. D. Juan Carlos, now Sh. Juan Carlos, shared how a tough military man who even threatened his own family with a gun to stop them from going to church, was moved by the word of God and now was established as a shepherd. D. Malena, D. Juan Carlos’ wife, was a wife and mother of prayer for his family, and she prayed until all members of her family believed in Christ, and now are our coworkers at UBF Guadalajara. I pray that this family me be a source of blessing for the students at the universities.

I thank all the leaders who served all activities and rehearsals with much spirit, and especially because they gave their time to serve sheep at the universities. I thank God for the fellowship directors that served with prayer and devotion to encourage coworkers to serve the Lord. I pray that they have received new strength and courage and vision in God so a great work of God may be done in this year at the University of Guadalajara.
