Kwangju I & VI (207), Junju I (25), and Busan UBF (22) had a joint SBC July 18-21 at Jangsung retreat, entitled, “Healing Cross, Healing Love.” A total number of 254 people attended, including 44 newcomers.

The specialty of the 2013 SBC was on intensive message preparation to produce powerful messages. Praise God for healing all the leaders first, through their struggles in their message preparation and the powerful work of the Holy Spirit to reconcile them to him and draw us to Him to decide to feed his sheep. The opening messenger, Challenge Cheon (2 King 5), confessed his longtime hidden sins before the cross of Jesus and received forgiveness. His sincere repentant message opened all the attendants’ hearts to be ready to accept the gospel and receive the word of God. The first night’s messenger, Heecheol Lee (Luke 15), delivered a moving message about the Father’s love based on his experience, being a father after seven years of marriage. The main messenger, Suoong Yoo (Mark 2), sincerely repented of his drinking and other sins, revising his message ten times. The second night’s messenger, Mark Park, devoted himself to message preparation, fighting against his sin until he had an alopecia areata. Through his message, we learned the severity and fear of sin, and the power of the gospel which sets us free. The highlight of the SBC, the message of the cross (John 19), was well delivered so that we learned about Jesus who died on the cross and finished the work of God to save the world. Through the closing message (John 21) we wrote deep reflections to have a firm foundation in Jesus’ love and decided to feed his sheep.

Thank God for his saving mighty work in that several students repented and came back to him. Donghyeok Lee lived as he wanted. One day he had a car accident and all of the people in the car died; only he survived, with only a bruise. Then his job suddenly closed up and he was unemployed. Through these two events, he repented and accepted God’s love and intervention. A leader among student shepherds, Hyeongoo Kim, sinned against God for several years. However, the words, “The truth will set you free,” worked into his heart powerfully and lead him to decide to live by faith newly. His repentance moved all the attendants to give thanks to God. Sincerity Cho could not repent for a long time but came to the SBC, received God’s grace, and decided to live by faith with other coworkers. It was the fruit of persistent prayer and the visiting of our shepherds. Not only students, but shepherds and shepherdesses also repented and were newly filled with the Holy Spirit. Working full time, this world influenced many shepherds to lose their first love of Jesus and mission, and mothers were so tired of raising children. However, they repented of their world-influenced life without mission. The mothers received the love of Jesus who finished his work on the cross, served in a powerful dance, and were filled with passion to proclaim the gospel at the campus. Three brothers from Busan UBF received the word of God deeply and were restored in God, and two sisters from Junju UBF each decided to be a Bible teacher and shepherdess.

Many young students served many programs such as the sing-along, presiding, skits, the taekwondo dance, and so on. This serving helped them to grow in faith. After the SBC, the Roman Soldiers team has been deepening their roots in the gospel and getting training through early morning prayer and eating daily bread.
