Riga is the capital of Latvia which is one of the Baltic states (Estonia , Latvia, Lithuania). In 2009 M. Caleb & Esther Kim came to Riga from Moscow and started a new pioneering ministry. Two years later, M. Timothy & Andreanna Kang came from Moscow as well and joined to them and have been co-working together since then. In the current economic situation of that many people are leaving this country for Western/Northern Europe to find jobs because of the impact of the economic recession, the two missionary families’ financial matters turned out to be an urgent prayer topic.

On October 28, afternoon, Dr. John Jun arrived in Riga, Latvia from St. Petersburg, Russia. M. Caleb Kim and M. Timothy Kang welcomed and picked him up at the airport. From October 29 to 31 we conjecutively studied three lectures of the Ephesians with Dr. John Jun. On Nov. 1, we had a group Bible study based on the second part of Galatians 5. On Nov. 2, Dr. John Jun gave us a special lecture of ‘the principle of children’s education.’ Based on the words of God in his lecture we could learn how to uprightly educate our children and the importance of parents’ exemplary life. In order to show the parents’ exemplary life, they must have consistent speech and action. Our children learn not from parents’ speech, but from their behaviors. After the lecture all our missionaries wrote our own reflections based on the words of God we received and shared them. M. Esther Kim newly accepted the providence and sovreignty of God who resent her to this mission field where she had been 21 years ago. She repented with many tears her sins of that she has forgotten God’s holy mission due to financial difficulties and wounded heart caused by sheep. She made a new decision to serve campus fishing and to study Latvian language by faith. M. Andrew Kang also repented before God that he was unable to carry out God’s mission because of the difficulties of both adjusting to a new mission field and taking care of his second son, Timothy who has been suffering from cerebral palsy. He made a new decision to live by the vision of God who sent him to Riga.

On Nov. 3 Dr. John Jun gracefully and powerfully served the Sunday worship service with the message of Ephesians 1, entitled ‘Christian’s spiritual blessing.’ He first changed brightly the environment of worship place by setting a casual lampstand and delivered the message using an audiovisual presentation. After the message we had the communion ceremony, which was held for the first time in Riga. It was the most blessed time to eat Jesus’ flesh and drink Jesus’ blood and deeply engrave his grace in our hearts. The communion was followed by baptism ceremony on Esther Kim Jr. and Timothy Kang Jr. After the Sunday worship service we all visited the campus of LU ( National University of Latvia ) and earnestly prayed for raising one ancestor of faith.

Prayer Topics:
1. Raising one ancestor of faith,
2. Self supporting (God may give us one business item ),
3. Attending the 2014 Moscow summer Bible conference.
