Thank God for sending Dr. Mark Yang to Toronto on November 29 to serve us with an intensive study of the whole book of Philippians. Coworkers from GTA, Hamilton, Guelph and Ottawa, around 40 people, gathered in Toronto center on Saturday and in Ryerson on Sunday. The Bible Study ran from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Saturday and from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday. This Bible study covered a lot of material, but it was very clearly focused on Christ: Christ-centeredness (1:20-21), Christ’s mindset (2:5-8), Christ the goal (3:8-11) and Christ’s sufficiency (4:12-13). Christ is the center of our life, so we are to glorify him; Christ is the example of our life, so we are to be like him; Christ is the goal of our life, so we are to gain him; Christ is the source of our life, so we are to rely on him. Especially, we learned that living a self-centered Christian life is miserable, and causes a lot of problems. God really wants us to mature to be Christ-centered persons and form a Christ-centered community. We prayed that we may also have the master passion like Apostle Paul to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death. We were all encouraged and thanked God for this precious Bible study. It may be our prayer for the ministry of God’s word in Canada.
