His Delight is in the Law of the Lord

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” (Ps 1:2)

I.2013 Annual Review

My 2013 key verse (and London ministry’s key verse) was Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea
and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Our fight is a spiritual fight against evil spirits. Without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit we cannot serve the salvation work of God. So, we chose Acts 1:8 as the key verse for 2013. But when I recall the past year, it was hard for me to find any visible fruit of the Holy Spirit. I can only remember serving the gospel of Luke in a leader’s GBS and in each Sunday worship message throughout the year. And we set the time every night at 9:00 pm from Monday to Friday and prayed personally. However, I believe that although we could not find any visible fruit, God did great work in each person’s heart and will do all things according to His good will. While recalling 2013, I could find several thanksgiving topics regarding God’s good work in our ministry.

First, God sent his sheep and helped us to serve them. They are Julie, Wen, James, Becky, Andy, Jane, Sinthiche, Corey, Exin, Silfo, Rai, Joseph, Christy, Edith, Maryam and Anda along with others. Some left our ministry but the majority is still studying the word of God and they are in our prayers.

Second, God blessed the Spring Retreat March 23-24 with the title, “Young Man, Get Up!” and the fall welcoming night with the title, “The Truth Will Set You Free.” Especially, through the welcoming night, we gained several new one to one Bible students: Joseph, Christy, Edith and Maryam.

Third, God blessed the ISBC 2013 attendance with Corey, David Hong Jr. from Mexico, and Theresa from Uganda. Also, he blessed the Canadian leaders’ conference on Labor Day with the inspiration of one-to-one ministry through Dr. John Baik’s testimony.

Fourth, by God’s grace, we could have fellowship with Dr. Luke Lim’s family from Uganda and Dr. Kiil Kim from China and Dr. Mark Yang from Chicago, while staying in London.

Fifth, God protected and strengthened Theresa to participate in the Ugandan mission and to bear her medical studies, overcoming home-sickness. Sixth, the matter of the new Bible house was settled. We had prayed and tried to transfer the property of the new Bible house to the name of “London UBF” for more than one year. But for this transfer, the bank demanded more than a 25% down-payment. We recognized that it was not God’s leading and closed the process and rented the property as our Bible house.

Seventh, there was God’s gracious work in our co-workers. M. Sarah finished her RPN program and got a job in her field. M. John was admitted to a graduate program in actuarial science and successfully finished one semester. Anna came back from Korea in March and joined London ministry. She also became a supply teacher by God’s grace. In addition, God worked to maintain a club in the Western University even though not enough people were registered.

II.2014 Direction and Prayer

My key verse for 2014 is Psalm 1:2: “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” My personal direction for 2014 is to meditate on the word of God day and night. I pray that the word may be my delight in my daily life. Also, while meditating on the word of God, I may have deep conversation with God and obey His will. The London UBF key verse is 2 Timothy 4:2: “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.” May we be prepared in season and out of season by meditating on the word of God and prayer so that we may be empowered by the Holy Spirit and teach the word of God to correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful instruction.

One Word: My delight is in the law of the Lord
