M. John Mun's left arm was accidentally placed under the machine at work and got a lower arm laceration. Three major nerves, tendons, muscles, and two arteries were cut and damaged. There was big muscle and tissue loss, including heavy blood loss. Though the bone seems to be fine, his thumb was fractured and machine particles went inside the cut.
Last night, surgery was performed for 6 hours. He went into surgery at 5 pm at the Advocate Condell Medical Center (801 S. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville, IL 60048, (847) 362-2900). The surgery was done well. Currently, they are observing blood flow and infection. He is now at the ICU unit. He will soon be transferred to general patient unit. The medical team will re-assess his condition tomorrow.
