The WITS UBF ministry held an Easter Conference from March 25-27, 2022. Unlike previous conferences, this conference was not held at an official venue. Instead the members hosted the conference at their homes, the Bible house and a nearby guest house in Johannesburg. This new approach definitely posed new challenges; however, overall it was great to meet in the intimate and personal setting of our homes and the Bible house.

The first group Bible study was on John 19:16-37, and we carefully considered Jesus' crucifixion in context of His final words on the cross “It is finished.” The second and main group Bible study was on Isaiah 52:13-53:12 where we looked at the events described in John 19 from the Prophet Isaiah’s point of view. We realized that the gospel message is hard to believe from mans' point of view: how amazing and profound is it that God used His power (arm of the Lord) to save sinful men and women in the most unexpected way? God sent his one and only Son into the world to suffer and die as a ransom for us. This message is so marvellous that people cannot understand it by mere reason. The question for all of us at the conference was: Do we believe the Prophet Isaiah’s explanation of the gospel message? Many shared honest testimonies in response to the question. Thank the Lord for raising K*enneth and R*apelang as a messengers, and praise God for the junior sisters who hosted an exciting Bible memorization and drama competition on John 21. Lastly, thank God for raising L*ulama on the final day of the conference as a spiritual leader for campus ministry.
