Thank God for His mighty healing upon Dr. Charles Kim from the cardiac arrest. Since the incident happened on March 17, he has recovered quickly and restored his job with the doctor's final decision, and began to work recently. Continue to pray for his complete healing. Thank you for all your prayer supports!

Dr. C*harles Kim was discharged on April 3, 2021. He attended Chicago UBF United Friday Meeting on April 10 and shared his thanksgiving and prayer topics. You can watch the video below.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Happy Easter! Praise Jesus who died on the cross and rose to life defeating sin and death!

Today Dr Charles Kim was discharged home from the inpatient rehab hospital. His health has improved so much. We are so thankful to God for His protection and healing for Dr. Charles. We are so thankful for your prayers and support. Dr. Charles will continue one month of physical and occupational therapy as an outpatient.

Please pray for insurance to approve three months of medical leave. They ask prayer for Dr. Charles to fully recover and return to work until retirement next January as he originally planned.

Per the recommendation of doctors, the family asks that only those who are fully vaccinated visit in person.

Dear brothers and sisters around the world, 

Our God is an awesome God. Just over one week ago, we wrote to ask your prayers for Dr. Charles who had suffered a major heart attack and was in critical condition. When we last wrote, he had recovered enough to transfer out of the intensive care unit. 

Since that time, God has been helping Dr. Charles to continue to recover. He was able to transfer to an inpatient rehab unit.  His alertness and speech have continued to improve. He passed his swallow evaluation and has been able to eat. He has been working with therapy and yesterday he was able to walk for the first time since this all started. 

We are so thankful to God for his healing.  We are very grateful for all your prayers.  

Please continue to pray that Dr. Charles recovery would go smoothly and without complication.

Greetings in Christ, 

By the grace of God Dr. Charles continues to gradually recover.  

Today he was able to transfer out of the intensive care unit. His lungs have improved so he no longer needs supplemental oxygen. We are thankful he has become increasingly more awake and his speech is improving gradually. He is very thankful for all of your prayers and support.  

Yesterday he began working with therapy. He will need to work much with therapy to regain his strength. 

Please pray for the following:

1. That God may bless Dr. Charles as he works with therapy and rebuilds his strength
2. That God may help him to pass his swallow evaluation and be able to eat and get the nasogastric tube removed 
3. That God may protect him from any complications through this entire recovery process

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, 

We wanted to provide all those who have been praying an update on Dr. Charles. 

He remains in critical condition and seems to be improving slowly.  

Today his breathing has been slowly improving and the amount of oxygen he needs is decreasing.  His blood pressure and heart function have been stable.  Thankfully the echocardiogram shows that his heart has maintained strong pumping function.  

He remains very tired and sleeps on and off during the day. He says a few words. He asks simple questions. He expresses understanding when we ask questions. He smiles. 

Prayer topics:

1. Pray for complete healing of his body, his heart, and lung function
2. Pray for complete healing and restoration of his mind

We are so encouraged by your continued prayers, support, and love.  

We continue to ask that you refrain from visiting Dr. Charles. He is very tired and needs rest to recover.

Greetings in Christ, 

Dr. Charles' condition is improving.  

Today the sedating medications were stopped and he was able to wake up.  His breathing also improved and he was strong enough to come off the breathing machine.  He was able to recognize his family and even say a few words. These are major improvements and answers to prayer. 

He is still very tired and will remain in the intensive care unit today. 

We thank and praise God.  Jesus truly is the resurrection and the life.  Thank you for all your prayers.  

Please continue to pray for Dr. Charles' recovery. 

1. Pray that his heart will fully recover
2. Pray that his brain function will fully recover as well.

Greetings in Christ, 

We are so thankful to God for keeping Dr. Charles and our family in his mighty hand. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We are thankful for all the prayers, encouragement, and support from God's people around the world. And we request your continued prayers for Dr. Charles' recovery. 

We wanted to provide you with the following updates. 

Currently, Dr. Charles remains in critical condition on a breathing machine and requires sedating medications. However, there have been several steps in the right direction. 

Today the medical team was able to rewarm Dr. Charles to normal body temperature. They were able to decrease the amount of sedating medications. Dr. Charles was able to open his eyes in response to his name. His blood pressure improved today. He has also begun initiating his own breaths. 

Please pray for the following:  

1. Dr. Charles to fully wake up when the sedating medications are discontinued and that his brain be completely protected. 
2. His breathing may continue to improve so that he is strong enough to come off the breathing machine. 
3. His heart function may fully recover. 

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. Again due to hospital visitation restrictions and his critical condition please refrain from visiting him in the hospital.

We are so thankful for everyone who has been praying for Dr. Charles. 

Yesterday afternoon Dr. Charles Kim suffered a serious heart attack. By God's gracious providence this was recognized immediately and he received prompt treatment by emergency responders and the medical team.  

At the hospital last night he underwent a successful heart catheterization which corrected the blockage that caused the heart attack.  

Currently, Dr. Charles is in critical but stable condition. The medical team is keeping him sedated at a cooler body temperature to help protect his brain. We will not know much more about his prognosis until 48-72hr from now when it is time to rewarm his body temperature and allow him to wake up.  

We are thankful to God for his mercy upon Dr. Charles and our family. We thank all of you for your continued prayers in this difficult time.  

Because of strict hospital visitation policies, we ask everyone outside of the family to refrain from visiting the hospital today and tomorrow.
