ALL OF THEM MAY BE ONE

"that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." (John 17:21)

We thank God for enabling us to hold the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Daily Bread Team on Saturday, April 6th. This time the annual meeting took place in Cologne at the warm invitation of Eberhard Groß. The Lord blessed the meeting with encouraging and uplifting fellowship and clear prayer topics.

Participants: Eberhard Groß, Dr. Ulrike Groß, Johannes Lee (Cologne), Dr. Brigitte Schauwienold (Heidelberg), Marianne Blessing Müller (Bern, Switzerland), Stephanus Park, Stefan Elsholz, Elke Dietzel, Priska Schweitzer, Maria Lee (Bonn)

After a tasty lunch to which the coworkers from Cologne had invited, the participants of the Daily Bread Meeting came together at the center of Cologne I UBF.

The first part consisted of Bible study and testimony sharing.

After the opening prayer by Ulrike Groß, Eberhard Groß gave the welcoming speech based on Rev 1:10,11a. He spoke in three points about the important mission we have received like John. First, we are to be in the Spirit of God in order to hear what God tells us through His Word. Second, we should write down what we have heard. A good possibility is to write down the word of God we have received from DB every morning and to engrave it in our hearts. Third, we should send the word we heard and wrote down to the 7 churches. Eberhard emphasized that the DB team has an important task, to pass on the Word of God that we have received and to send it to all churches.

We continued with the Bible study "All of them may be one" from John 17:1-26. The leading verse was 21a. Based on the questionnaire we learned three points through Jesus’ intercessory prayer. First, our life purpose is to glorify God. Second, Jesus prayed for the sanctification of His disciples. Third, Jesus prayed that the believers would be one in the love of God. Brigitte Schauwienold concluded the Bible study with prayer.

Then the participants in turn exchanged God's grace and work through their DB testimonies and the Annual Report 2018/2019. Brigitte Schauwienold saw the glory of Jesus with Rev 1:16.
Johannes Lee sought the Spirit of God with 1 Sam 28:18 and decided to fight with repentance against the spirit of the times.
Maria Lee learned through Rev 1:16 to trust in Jesus and to live with Mk 11:22.
Ulrike Groß was able to overcome her limits with Rev 1:16 and to look at Jesus.
Marianne Blessing Müller thanked with 1 Sam 24:7 that God had helped her to have peace despite people’s reaction. She accepted God's guidance to practice forgiveness.
Priska Schweitzer decided with Rev 1:7 to focus on the Second Coming of Jesus and to pray for Natalie, Olaf, Patrick and for the Bible circle at the Rhein-Sieg University with the identity as royal priesthood.
Stefan Elsholz learned through 1 Sam 23:4 to inquire of God in all things. He prayed for Emmanuel and his sons Joshua and Daniel and the Bible circle at Juridicum (law school).
Stephanus Park presented the daily bread annual report 2018/2019.

II. Key verse and prayer topics 2019

John 17:21 "that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."

1. to be one as Jesus prayed, having each personal fellowship with God through daily bread and forming unity in the family, church and for world mission through daily bread
2. to motivate and mobilize co-workers among the next generation and shepherd candidates to participate in the daily bread team
3. to establish one responsible DB co-worker in each chapter

One word: All of them may be one through daily bread

After a short break the second part continued with two workshops.

Workshop I: Guideline and Improvement

Last year's suggestion for improvement was implemented, that the whole Bible can be read through with DB in about 4-5 years instead of 4 years.

As a guideline for the authors it was stated that the authors are to divide the Bible text according to how much one can digest in one day (approx. 1 chapter or section by section, as before).

It was noted that the DB booklet contains about twice as many texts from the OT as from the NT. Therefore it was suggested to go through the OT one time and through the NT two times in order to adjust the length.

Regarding the DB content, it was summarized that prayer, listening to the word and personal application should be reflected in the texts.

Due to the logistical problems, the deadline of the authors was accelerated by one week to May 10th for the next quarter.

Workshop II: Mobilisation

A challenge for the DB team is to mobilize co-workers and the next generation to multiply in using DB. One prayer concern is that in some ministries DB is little or not used and many NG have no morning prayer. There are also some who use other devotional texts.

Finally, Stephanus Park gave 5 prayer topics.

1. We pray with the UBF motto 2019 based on John 17:21a that we are one in the love of God

and in Jesus. 2. We pray for the 2019 Willingen ESBC and the 50th anniversary of UBF campus mission and

for the leadership of James Kang. 3. We pray for Cologne I UBF that God may bless the leadership of Eberhard Groß and the

Easter message of John 18 and John 21. 4. We pray for the further work of God through daily bread in three points, firstly, that God will be glorified; secondly, that the coworkers and next generation will be encouraged to lead a holy life; thirdly, that God will use DB as a tool to be one, in every house church, in every group and in the ministry. 5. We pray for the next Daily Bread Meeting in Heidelberg in spring 2020.

Stefan Elsholz concluded the meeting with prayer.
