Dear coworkers in Christ,

Thank you for your prayers for the Conference in Bolivia which took place on January 16th to 19th. In total 70 people attended this conference (48 from Latin America, 10 from the U.S. 4 from Korea, 18 from Bolivia). Among the participants, 24 were Latin America native leaders and 6 were 2nd gens. The conference was held in a quiet Catholic conference place, 20 minutes away from the airport. Koreans are required to get a visa to enter Bolivia and get yellow fever shot 10 days before coming. Moreover, some countries don’t have the Bolivian consulate so it was very hard to come to the conference. As hard as it was to come, the Holy Spirit worked greatly in this conference. I summarized the conference in the following points.

First, we could have the direction for 2019 through M. Moses Yoon’s powerful message on John 17. One of the most important goals for the New Year's conference is to get a new direction for the year. We could accept God’s earnest desire for us to become one through John 17 and M. Moses’ message, “That all of them may be one…” Last year during the international conference in United States he gave us the prayer topic that we may become a loving community and this new years message is the same as well. Personally, I think the Holy Spirit gave us the same topic because we aren’t one yet and felt guilty about it. I pray that we may love the Lord even more and experience God’s power by co-working together throughout this year.

Second, we renewed our pioneering vision towards the 7 countries in Central America (Caribbean). On the last day of the conference, there was a ‘spying’ report on Costa Rica by M. Caleb from Mexico, who wants to serve Costa Rica’s mission land as an exchange student - the report was read by Shp. Fermin. Following the report, M. Jose Awn from Chicago gave us the news about pioneering Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and The Bahamas. I was surprised that there were servants of God who were preparing to go as missionaries to these 7 countries anytime. Especially M. Wesley Jeon from the U.S. is praying to go to Haiti, the poorest country. He went there as a short term missionary twice already. He served the message in a local church to 40 young people and their response were powerful. On the other hand, M. Carlos from the U.S. has already started the ministry in his hometown Puerto Rico. Last year, he took some days off from work and did the first summer Bible conference in Puerto Rico. Besides them, there are many people in Venezuela who are praying to go out as missionaries. In Bolivia, Shp. Hannah has been praying for 2 years to serve the ministry in Paraguay as a foreign student. Last year M. Paulina Cho and she did the ‘spying’ trip to Paraguay. Last year during the international conference I had the chance to talk to a senior missionary from Canada. He said that “At one point, some people in the ministry started to give a comment saying they couldn’t co-work well”. After he analyzed the situation he realized that the reason for it was that “the members stopped fishing and taking care of the sheep actively. The wind for world mission is starting to blow in Latin America. I pray that we may participate in the Holy Spirit’s work with all our heart. May Latin America become a Holy Nation and a Kingdom of Priests to this generation.

Third, our Directors Conference is changing to Leaders Conference. Given the vast geography of Latin America, it’s hard for us to meet up altogether every year. For example, traveling from Central America to South America or vice-versa takes much longer and is more expensive than traveling from Central America to the U.S. In reality if one missionary family has to spend a budget that surpasses their one-month income, it’s very hard to attend the conference every year. Despite all these difficulties, not only our directors but missionaries, native shepherds and 2nd gens from our neighbor countries have participated in our conference. For instance, beside the directors, 3 other missionaries and 2 2nd gens from Brazil have attended this conference. For this reason, we changed the title of this conference from “Latin America Directors Conference” to “Latin American Leaders Conference”.

Fourth, we accepted the differences between the Korean missionaries and the Latin America native shepherds and did most of the programs separately. Up until now, our directors' conference have been centered on the Korean missionaries. But now many native shepherds have been sent as missionaries or they have become shepherds in charge. Moreover, some of them have been transferred officially the leadership by the Korean missionaries. Now we cannot think about the Korean missionaries’ needs only. These two groups share the same mission but they have different spiritual needs. If we ignore this reality and do the meetings together the dynamics between them will be lost remarkably. For this reason, we divided the lectures in Korean for the Korean missionaries and Spanish for the native leaders. In this way, both the Korean missionaries and the native leaders could share freely without being self-conscious about each other. But we lack professional lecturers among our native leaders who can give lectures in Spanish. I pray that we may have many professional lecturers among our Korean missionaries and native leaders. On the other hand, we could also think about inviting non-UBF lecturers who can influence us. We need to pray for these two groups (three including the 2nd gens).

Fifth, it was a time to talk and have a fellowship between the native leaders. Some of the main activities in our ministry is pioneering and making disciples focused on university students. For this reason, we often find it hard to relate and have fellowship with believers from other ministries. Many people say “I don’t have friends”. The Bible emphasizes the fellowship in Christ but I think we haven’t been able to work on that point. This time two shepherd families from Bolivia invited some native leaders to stay at their house. They cleaned and made the accommodations for them to rest. Also, many shepherds from Santa Cruz 1 and 2 served picking up guests from the airport although they were busy. So many native leaders had the opportunity to have fellowship with the Bolivian leaders. Shepherd Jaime from Venezuela was surprised at the number of coworkers in Bolivia.

I asked one of the shepherds from Bolivia “How was the conference?”. He said, “I thought I was struggling a lot but hearing about other leaders’ struggles made me realize mine were nothing compared to theirs”. There is a limit to what I can teach them as a missionary. But I saw that he was challenged after talking with other native leaders- something I wouldn’t be able to teach him. “Iron sharpens iron”. I think it’s extremely important to make an environment in which “some prepared leaders” from each ministry can have fellowship. Although it is important that we serve our own chapters it is equally important to help the native leaders to grow and have fellowship and influence on each other. I think we can take the Staff meetings we used to do in the past as our model. M. John Kim’s (Nicaragua) sending Shp. Adriano and Jonathan is a good example for us. This year we’re opening an educational program online for the native leaders in Latin America (This first time will be only for the shepherds in charge from each chapter). I pray that there may be influencing professional lecturers who can direct the meetings in Spanish. May we be financially able to meet once a year. The missionaries who are preparing this program are M. Timothy Rhee, Elias Park, Joshua Ham, John Set, and Stephan Cho. Please pray for them. On the other hand, we are preparing a website to share and have fellowship between chapters. We are thankful for Shp Jaime from Venezuela who is carrying forward this project. We hope that we can start this project in some countries this year. We hope that gradually there may be responsible servants in each country who can collaborate in this project.

Sixth, we had consistent lectures on the whole book of Revelations. In this conference, we had 5 lectures, each with different themes. The lectures were “Revelations” by M. Stephan Ahn, “God’s hope towards Latin America” by M. Pablo Star Oh, “Discipleship” by M. John Seo, “Early Church History” by M. Paul Chung, and “Education for 2nd gens” by M. Jacob Lee. Many people think that Revelations is too difficult and dangerous. Although we’ve been studying the Bible nearly 30 years in Bolivia, we’ve never studied Revelations except for the message to the 7 churches. However the Lord says “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near” (Rev 1:3). In the beginning, we invited M. Stephan Ahn to study the introduction only. But most of the Latin America coordinators wanted to take advantage of this opportunity and study the whole book so we had 3 lectures on Revelations besides the Introduction. Some people may think that it wasn’t adequate for a coordinators conference. But behind this decision, we can see our missionaries’ spiritual thirst. In this conference, I was responsible for the closing message. I prepared the message taking Revelations 12:11 as an example of victory. “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” Although the grace I received was clear I didn’t feel confident about my interpretation on the passage. I felt this way because I didn’t have knowledge of the book of Revelations as a whole. So after I confirmed with M. Stephen Ahn that my interpretation wasn’t wrong, I could prepare the message with confidence. But I think this wasn’t my problem only. I think people who haven’t studied theology systematically share the same problem I had. We think that understanding and obeying to one word in our practical lives is the best interpretation of the Bible. I believe this is our strength. But we lack a systematic and integrated knowledge of the Bible. I think our missionaries have the thirst to work on this weakness. I realized that for this reason many missionaries weren’t satisfied with studying the Introduction alone but wanted to study the whole book. M. Stephen served us passionately with 8 lectures even though his health condition was bad.

Seventh, 2019 Prayer topics for the ministry in Latin America. Next year we have the Latin America Conference divided into 4 areas- on January 26-19th 2019 South America and Brazil, April 9-12th Mexico, middle of April Central America (place undefined), middle of September North of South America in Colombia. Depending on how we serve the ministry of the Word these conferences could be one more event or they could provide the opportunity for a spiritual revival. It’s been 6 months since I became the coordinator of Latin America. I believe it is my responsibility to have good communication between the 5 coordinators and serve our coworkers well. It is also to observe and understand God’s will and suggest it as a prayer topic. These past 6 months I’ve been thinking a lot about what God’s will is for us. And I believe it is to study the Word deeply and to have a powerful ministry of the Word.

After the conference, as I was organizing my desk I happened to find and read the book from the Latin America Coordinators Conference from 2014 in Argentina. That year we had a symposium on “Preaching and Preachers” by Lloyd Jones. I was touched by M. Noah Jung’s words “When preachers preach the Word of God truly, the Holy Spirit sends those who are ready to hear the message. Preachers need to believe this”. This words give us a clear direction. I think we should believe these words from Lloyd Jones are God’s truth. Whenever we had the international conference in the U.S. M. Samuel C. Lee used to call all the staff after the program was finished and directed a prayer meeting. He used to say “I’ve never ran behind the sheep”. Like the Holy Spirit sent the Ethiopian eunuch to Philip who was ready to preach the Word, even today the Holy Spirit sends his sheep to those who are ready to preach. God is looking for someone to entrust his sheep even today. Do we really have the living Word of God in us? I pray that we may be servants who have the Word of God revealed by the Holy Spirit and may we see the abundant fruit of the ministry of the Word in 2019.

One word: The Holy Spirit sends his sheep to those who have the Word of God.

존경하는 주님의 종들께

그동안 볼리비아에서 1월 16-19까지 있는 수양회를 위한 기도의 노동에 감사드립니다. 이번 수양회에 참 총 70명 (중남미: 48, 미국: 10, 한국: 4, 볼리비아: 18) 이 참석하였습니다. 이 중에 24명이 중남미 현지 리더들이었고, 2세가 6명이었습니다.  수양회 장소는 공항에서는 20분 거리에 있는 조용한 카토릭수양관이었습니다.  볼리비아는 한국인에게 비자를 요구합니다.   입국 10일 전에 황열병 주사를 맞아야 합니다. 또 볼리비아 영사관이 아예 없는 나라들이 있어서 어려움들이 많았습니다. 그러나 어려움이 많았던 만큼 성령님의 역사하심이 큰 수양회였습니다.  이번 수양회를 몇 가지 점에서 정리하고자 합니다.

첫째, 윤 모세 선교사님의 파워풀한 요한 17장 메세지를 통해서 2019년 신년 방향을 잡을 수 있었습니다. 

신년 리더수양회의 중요한 목적의 하나가 신년방향을 잡는 것 입니다.   우리는 요한 17장 말씀과 윤 모세 선교사님의 메세지를 통해서 “저희도 하나가 되어 우리 안에 있게 하사…” 하시는 주님의 간절한 소망을 영접할 수 있었습니다.     작년에 미국에서 있었던 국제수양회에서도 윤 모세 선교사님은 우리 모임이 사랑의 공동체가 되도록 기도제목을 제시하셨습니다.  그리고 올해 신년말씀도 동일한 방향입니다.   저는 개인적으로 우리가 아직 하나가 되지 못하고 있기 때문에 성령님께서 동일한 기도제목을 주시는 것으로 받아드리고 마음이 찔렸습니다.   올 한해 동안 주님을 더욱 사랑함으로 하나가 되는 동역의 역사가 우리 가운데 충만하기를 기도합니다. 

둘째, 중남미 7개국 개척에 대한 비젼을 새롭게 하였습니다. 

마지막 날 밤에 코스타리카에 교환학생으로 선교사로 나가고자 하는 멕시코 CF의 갈렙 목자님의 코스타리카 정탐보고 (페르민 목자가 대독함)가 있었습니다.  뒤이어 시카고의 호세 안 선교사님께서 쿠바, 아이티, 푸에리토리코, 자마이카, 트리니닷 - 토바고, 바하마의 개척소식을 전하여 주셨습니다.  이 7개국들은 이미 언제든지 선교사로 나가고자 준비하는 종들이 있음을 알고 놀랐습니다. 특별히 세계에서 가장 가난한 나라인 아이티 (영어권)를 위해서 미국의 웨슬리 전 선교사님이 기도하고 계십니다.  이분은 이미 2번 단기선교사로 아이티를 방문하여 한 지역교회에서 40명 정도의 청년들에게 말씀을 나누었는데 그 반응이 매우뜨거웠다고 하였습니다.   또 미국의 카를로스 목자는 자신의 고향인 푸에리토리코에서 이미 구체적인 말씀역사를 시작하고 있습니다.   작년에 휴가를 얻어 푸에리토리코의 첫 여름수양회를 하였습니다.  이 외에도 베네수웰라에서도 많은 분들이 선교사로 나가고자 기도하고 있습니다.  볼리비아에서도 한나 목자가 파라과이에 유학생선교사로 나가고자 2년 전부터 기도하고 있는데, 작년에는 빠울리나 조 선교사와 같이 파라과이 정탐여행을 다녀왔습니다.   

고인물은 썩을 수 밖에 없습니다.  작년 국제수양회에서 카나다에서 쳅터책임자로 사역하시는 한 선배선교사님과 대화할 기회가 있었습니다.  그 분은 “언제부턴가 모임내에 불평하는 사람들이 생기고 동역의 그릇이 잘 이루어지지 않았다고”했습니다.  그 원인을 살펴보는 가운데 한 가지를 깨달았는데, 그것은 “멤버들이 켐퍼스에 나가서 적극적으로 피슁을 하며 양들을 치지않으면서 부터 그런  문제들이 생기기 시작했다”고 하셨습니다.  세계선교의 바람이 중남미대륙에 일기시작하고 있습니다.   이 성령님의 역사에 온 마음을 드려 동참하기를 기도합니다. 그래서 중남미대륙이 이시대의 거룩한 백성이요 제사장나라가 되기를 기도합니다.

셋째, 중남미 지부장수양회가 중남미 리더수양회로 그 성격이 바뀌어가고 있습니다. 

광활한 중남미대륙의 특성상 매년 모이기가 쉽지 않습니다.  예를 들면 중미에서 남남미로 혹은 남남미에서 중미로 이동하는 것이,  중남미에서 미국으로 이동하는 것보다 훨씬 오래 걸리고, 비용부담도 더 큽니다.   실제적으로 한 가정이 개척역사를 섬기는 경우 한 달 생활비가 넘는 경비를 지출하며 매년 지부장수양회에 참석하는 것이 쉽지 않습니다.  이런 배경에서 지부장 수양회가 이루어지는 주변국들에서는 지부장선교사님들 뿐만 아니라 소원이 있는 선교사님들, 현지리더들 그리고 2세들이 같이 참여하고 있습니다.  예를 들어 이번 수양회에 주변국인 브라질에서는 지부장외에 3분의 선교사님들과 2명의 2세들이 참여하였습니다. 그래서 우리는 수양회의 명칭도 “중남미 지부장수양회”에서 “라틴 리더수양회”로 바꾸었습니다.  

넷째, 한인 선교사님들과 중남미의 현지인리더들의 서로 다른 차이점을 인정하고 대부분의 수양회프로그램들을 따로 분리하여 진행하였습니다.

지금까지 중남미 지부장수양회는 한인선교사님들을 중심으로 이루어져 왔습니다. 그러나 이제는 많은 현지리더들이 선교사로 파송되거나 개척지의 책임목자들이 되었습니다.  또 한인선교사들로 부터 지도권을 공식적으로 이양받아 쳅터책임목자로 사역하는 분들도 있습니다.  이제는 우리 한인선교사님들의 필요만을 생각할 수 없게 되었습니다. 이 두 그룹은 같은 부르심을 공유하고 있지만, 서로 다른 콘텍스트와 영적인 필요를 가지고 있습니다.  이를 무시하고 같이 모임을 한다면 그 역동성이 현저히 떨어질 수 밖에 없습니다.  이 때문에 모든 강의들을 한인선교사님들을 위한 한국어 그룹과 현지인리더들을 위한 스페니쉬 그룹으로 나누어 진행하였습니다.    이를 통해서 한인선교사님들이나 현지리더들이나 서로를 의식하지 않고 자유롭게 교제할 수 있었습니다. 

그러나 통역이 없이 스페니쉬로 유익한 강의를 할 수 있는 전문성을 갖춘 자원이 우리에게는 많이 부족합니다.  앞으로 우리 선교사님들과 현지인리더들중에 전문성을 갖춘 강사들이 많이 나올 수 있기를 기도합니다. 또 우리에게 영향을 줄 수 있는 외부인사들을 강사로 초대하는 것도 생각해 볼 수 있을 것입니다.  무엇보다도 동일한 부르심을 공유하고 있으면서도 그 콘텍스트와 필요가 매우 다른 이 두 그룹간 (2세까지 포함하면 세 그룹)의 소통과 효율적인 동역에 대해서 계속 고민하고 기도해 나가야  할 것 같습니다.    

다섯째,  현지인 리더들간의 교제와 사귐을 활성화하는 계기가 되었습니다. 

우리 모임에서는 거의가 각개전투(개척역사)를 하고 있습니다.  또 자비량과 켐퍼스 제자양성을 핵심가치로 삼고 있습니다.  그래서 다른 지체의 신앙인들과 정서적인 공감대를 형성하고 교제하는 것이 쉽지 않습니다.  우리는 선교지에서 대분분이 외롭습니다.   많은 분들이 “나는 친구가 없다”라고 말합니다.  성경은 주안에서의 교제와 사귐을 강조하고 있지만 우리는 거기에 그다지 신경을 쓰지 못하고 있는 것 같습니다.  이번에  볼리비아의  2목자가정들이 자기들의 집에 현지인 리더들을 초대하여 묵게했습니다. 센타의 방을 깨끗하게 치우고 침대를 드려놓아 한 참석자 부부가 거기서 편하게 지내도록 배려를했습니다. 또 많은 볼리비아 1, 2부 리더들이 바쁜 가운데서도 공항픽업을 했습니다. 그래서 참석했던 많은 현지인 리더들이 볼리비아 리더들이 주 안에서 사귐을 가졌습니다.  베네수웰라의 하이메 목자는 볼리비아에 이렇게 많은 동역자들이 있는 것을 알고 놀랐다고 했습니다.       

이번 수양회에 참석했던 한 볼리비아 목자에게 저는 “수양회가 어땠냐?”고 물었습니다.  그는 “자기도 열심히 투쟁한다고 생각했는데 다른 현지리더들이 투쟁하는 것을 들으니 자기는 정말 부끄럽다”고 했습니다.  선교사인 저가 가르치는 것은 한계가 있습니다. 그러나 이 분이 다른 리더들과 교제하면서 짧은 시간에 저 개인이 줄 수 없었던 새로운 도전과 비젼을 받는 것을  보았습니다.   “철은 철로 날카롭게 한다”는 말이 있습니다.  각 사역지마다 “준비된 소수의 리더들”이 서로 교제하며 사귀도록 환경을 예비하는 것이 참 중요한 시점인 것 같습니다. 우리가  자기 쳅터역사를 잘 섬기는 것도 중요하지만 현지인 리더들을 잘 키워서 다른 현지인 리더들과 교제하고 영향력을 끼치도록 하는 것이 참 중요합니다.   과거 성장기의 한국의 스텝미팅이 우리의 모델이 될 수 있을 것 같습니다.   이번에 니카라과 김 요한 선교사님이 그동안 키워오신 아드리아노 목자와 죠나단 목자를 참석시키신 것은 우리 모두에게 좋은 본이 되었습니다.  

올 해부터 중남미 현지인 리더들을 위한 인터넷 교육프로그램 (제 1기는 쳅터책임목자들에 한함)이 가동됩니다.  우리 가운데 전문성과 영향력을 가지고 스페니쉬로 모임을 인도할 수 있는 강사들을 세워주시길 기도합니다.  1년에 한번 같이 모일 수 있도록 재정도 준비해 갈 수 있기를 기도합니다.  현재 이 프로그램 준비를 위해서 수고하시는 종들은 이 디모데, 박 엘리아, 함 호수에, 서 요한, 조 스데반 선교사들입니다.  이 종들을 위해서 기도를 부탁드립니다.    또한 각 쳅터들과의 소통과 교제를 위해서 중남미 통합 웹사이트를 준비하고 있습니다. 이 프로젝트를 추진하고 관리하는 역할을 베네수웰라의 하이메 목자님이 자원하여 주셔서 감사합니다.  일단은 몇 나라 중심으로 시작을 할 수 있기를 바랍니다.  또 차츰 각 지역별로 책임자를 세워서 부족한 부분들을 보완해 갈 수 있기를 바랍니다.    

여섯째, 요한계시록 전체를 일관하였습니다. 

이번 수양회에는 5개의 다른 주제의 강의들이 있었습니다.  안 스데반 목자님이 “요한계시록”을, 바블로 스타 오 선교사님이 “중남미를 향한 하나님의 소망”을, 서 요한 선교사님이 “제자양성”을, 폴 정 선교사님이 “초기 기독교사”를, 제이콥 리 선교사님의 “2세교육”을 강의하셨습니다. 혼신의 힘을 다해 강의를 해주신 주님의 종들께 감사를 드립니다.  요한계시록은 일반적으로 어렵고 위험한 책으로 인식되어 있습니 다.   저도 30년이 넘게 우리 모임에서 성경공부를 하고 있지만 계시록 1장에서 3장까지의 일곱교회에 주시는 메세지 외에는 전체를 공부해 본적이 없습니다. 그러나 주님은 “이 예언의 말씀을 읽는 자와 듣는 자들과 그 가운데 기록한 것을 지키는 자들이 복이 있다고” (계 1:3) 하셨습니다.  원래는 이번 수양회에서는 안 스데반 목자님을 초청해서 계시록의 서론만을 공부하고자 했습니다.  그러나 지역코오디네이터 선교사님들 대부분이 이번 기회에 계시록 전체를 한번 일관하기를 원하셔서 서론 외에 3강을 더 공부하게 되었습니다.  어떤 분들은 “지부장 수양회에는 맞지 않는다”고 생각하실 수 있을 것 입니다.  그러나 이 결정의 배경에는 우리 선교사님들이 갖고 있는 목마름이 있습니다.

저는 이번 수양회에서 폐회메세지를 맡았습니다.  계시록 12장 11절 말씀 “또 여러 형제가 어린 양의 피와 자기의 증거하는 말을 인하여 저를 이기었으니…”에서 이기는 자의 모델을 삼아 메세지를 준비하고자 하였습니다.  그러나 개인적으로 말씀의 은혜는 분명하였지만 저가 해석하는 것이 맞는 것인지에 대해서는 자신이 없었습니다. 이것은 저가 계시록 전체에 대한  통합적인 관점이 없었기 때문입니다.  그래서 안스데반 목자님에게 물어보고 저의 해석이 틀리지 않은 것을 확인했을 때, 비로서 자신있게 말씀을 준비할 수 있었습니다.   이것은 비단 저의 문제만이 아니라고 생각합니다.   아마 체계적인 신학교육을 받지 못한 많은 분들이 공통적으로 느끼는 부분이라고 생각합니다.   우리는 실제 삶에서 한마디 말씀에 순종하며 깨닫는 것이 가장 바른 성경해석이라고 믿습니다.  우리 모임은 여기에 강점이 있다고 생각합니다. 그러나 전체 통합적이고 체계적인 지식은 약합니다. 저는 우리 선교사님들이 이 약한 부분을 보완하고자 하는 목마름이 있다고 생각합니다.  이 때문에 많은 분들이 요한계시록 서론에 만족하지 않고, 전체를 일관하고자 하신 것으로 이해합니다.  이번 수양회에서 안 스데반 목자님은 이 부분을 잘 채워주셨습니다.  건강이 안좋으신 가운데서도 8번의 강의를 열정적으로 섬겨주셨습니다.

일곱째, 2019년 중남미 말씀역사를 위한 기도제목

내년에는 중남미 연합수양회가 4개지역으로 나누어서 진행됩니다.  구체적으로 2020년 1월 16-19에는 상파울로에서 남남미와 브라질이,  4월 9-12에는 멕시코,  4월 중 중미 (장소는 미정), 9월중 북남미 ( 장소:콜롬비아)가 지역수양회를 합니다.  지금부터 우리가 어떻게 말씀역사를 섬기는가에 따라 이 수양회들이 행사중심으로 끝날 수 도 있고 역사적인 부흥의 계기를 마련할 수도 있습니다.  저가 중남미대륙 코오디네이터로 임명을 받은 지 6개월이 지났습니다.  저의 역할은 5분의 지역코오디네이터들과 소통을 잘하여 우리 동역자님들을 잘 돕는 것이라고 생각합니다.  한 가지 더 나아간다면 하나님께서 우리 가운데 원하시는 것을 잘 살피고 깨달아 그것을 기도제목으로 제시하는 것이라고 생각합니다.  저는 지난 6개월간 하나님께서 우리에게 원하시는 것이 무엇인가를 많이 생각하여 왔습니다.  저는 그것이 깊이 있는 말씀공부와 능력있는 말씀역사라고 생각합니다.   

이번 리더수양회를 마치고, 책상을 정리하면서 우연히 2014년 알젠틴 중남미 지부장수양회 책자를 읽게되었습니다.   그 해에는 로이드 존슨의 “목사와 설교”라는 책을 읽고 심포지엄을 하였습니다.  정 노아 선교사님의 글에서 다음 문장이 저의 마음에 강하게 부딪혀왔습니다.  “설교자가 참다운 설교를 할 때 성령께서 그 메세지를 듣게 하기 위해 사람을 모으신다. 설교자는 이를 믿어야 한다.”  로이드 존슨의 이 한마디가 우리에게 분명한 방향을 줍니다.  저는 로이드 존슨의 말이 하나님의 진리인 것을 인정하여야 한다고 생각합니다.   언젠가 미국국제수양회에서 이 사무엘 선교사님께서 프로그램이 끝난 밤에 스텝들을 모아놓고 기도모임을 인도하셨습니다.  이때 그분은 “나는 한번도 양들을 쫒아 다닌적이 없다.  어디 가든지 항상 양들이 나를 찾아 왔다”고 말씀하신 것을 기억합니다.  이디오피아 내시를 말씀이 있는 빌립집사에게 보내신 성령님께서 오늘도 말씀을 가진 종에게 준비된 당신의 양들을 보내시고 계십니다.  하나님께서는 지금도 누구에게 당신의 양들을 맡길까 사람을 찾고 계십니다.    우리의 마음 가운데 정말 성령님께서 계시해 주신 살아 있는 말씀이 있습니까?   희망찬  2019년에는 우리 모두가 성령께서 계시하시는 말씀을 가진 종들이 되어 풍성한 말씀역사의 열매들을 맺을 수 있기를 기도합니다.

      한마디: 성령께서는 말씀을 가진 종들에게 양들을 보내신다.
