2018 Kenya Leadership Conference

We had a leadership conference on 19th-20th October. This time, we encouraged only willing leaders to attend. Total 34 leaders attended including 4 missionary families and three senior shepherd's family, and 20 student and graduate leaders. (Photo was taken while some had missed the announcement.)

Before the conference, newly growing students shepherds asked us how to practically shepherd their sheep. Since September, we studied '10 shepherdology series' on every Sunday. As part of supporting shepherding spirit, our theme for this conference was "Should I not be concerned" based on the Book of Jonah. We wanted to learn God's shepherd heart toward evil Nineveh people. In addition, we want to equip ourselves how to engage deep bible study with their sheep. So, shp. Otieno gave us a lecture on Inductive Bible study method that he learned well from the last Missionary-shepherd conference. His lecture helped all of us how to study the Bible and teach sheep independently. We had 5 bible study group and practiced Inductive Bible study by reading the passage more than 10 times, then find out themes, title and key verses, and preparing question paper by each group and the representative of each group presented them. Some of our student leaders confessed that it was a very new kind of experience and that they thanked God for having a basic skill at least how to study the Bible personally.

We realized that next year we'd better invite a few experts and extend our conference date and train ourselves more thoroughly. Please pray for our leaders to grow as excellent Bible teachers based on 2 Tim 2:15, "workmen who do not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."
