Key verse: Luke 12:33a, “Sell your possessions and give to the poor.”

We held the eleventh medical camp in Hoima district which is located in midwestern Uganda from 12th to 15th February. Missionary Nam-sik Oh, who was sent by Yeoido Full Gospel Church in Korea, has ministered in this area since 2000. Total of 34 co-workers participated in this camp. Among them, 23 came from South Korea from Gwangju 1, 3 chapter, Gwanak 3 chapter, Busan and Yuljeon chapter. 11 participated from Uganda. We went to a very remote village where the villagers could not receive proper medical service.

It took almost 3hrs to reach the villages from Hoima. And we had to come back to base camp in Hoima early before it was dark since the road was not good. So some members got tired before serving patients and villagers. But by God’s grace, we could treat 1700 patients for four days. In this year’s camp, we wanted to focus not on the number of patients but on quality service. So each doctor could hear patients’ medical history carefully and examine with enough time. Local pastors organized the camp very well and served healing mission team with best food. We thanked God for wonderful co-working between local pastors and camp participants in medical camp. In dental department, there was much more promotion compared to last year. Last year, dental clinic staff in Hoima regional referral hospital did not co-operate with our dentists.

But Dr. Abraham Seo served them one by one with Jesus’ heart and high quality skill. By this, their hearts were touched. So this year, their attitude totally changed. Two dentists, Dr. Abraham Seo (Gwangju 3) and Mary Lee (Gwanak 3) educated Ugandan dentists and treated patients together. Ugandan dentists and patients were all satisfied by two Korean dentists’ devoted service. We were also pleased since we could see the fruit of medical camp.

This year was the first trial to have camp in big hospital. Hoima Regional Referral Hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in Uganda. Although we tried to do our best to co-work with Ugandan doctors, our surgeons could not operate actively because many local doctors work in operation rooms. So we had to discuss a way to serve surgical patients more effectively when we have camps in big hospitals from now on.

We heard Sunday message about five loaves and two fish through Shepherd David Park (Gwangju 3) before leaving for medical camp. We believe that God already accepted our five loaves and two fish that we brought to Jesus. We thanked God for using us to serve Ugandan people through the eleventh healing mission.
