Ethiopia was formed as a country about 1000 BC by Menelik, a son between King Solomon of Israel and the queen of Sheba (1 Kings 10:1-10). The area is 1,104,300 square kilometers and the population is about 102 million. GDP is 823 US dollars and it is a very poor country with 175th place in the world. The food shortage is a very serious problem of the country. The religion is Ethiopian Orthodox 43.5%, Islam 33.9%, and Protestant 18.6%. As it is located in northern Africa, Islamic influence has been increasing. UBF ministry in Ethiopia has begun newly 19 months ago when S and M moved to Ethiopia, as S was hired as a professor. In such a short period of time, God has worked mightily through them in several professors and medical students. Another work of pioneering Ethiopia was started by Andrew Kim (former African UBF director) who got a job at Vision Care Africa. He arrived in Addis Ababa five weeks ago, the capital of the nation.

Our CME team arrived there from Nigeria and started studying the words of God on Wednesday with four doctors and health professionals. From Thursday to Saturday, we studied Ephesians 1 and 2, and Galatians 5, and we shared gracious Bible reflections among members. In particular, S shared his spiritual desire to follow carefully the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Topics:

1) God may raise one Abraham and Sarah.
2) SY’s health and Sunday messages.
3) One ancestor of faith at Addis Ababa University (Andrew Kim’s prayer topic)
4) 2018 UBF International Summer Bible Conference (ISBC) and Dr. Abraham Kim.
