New England UBF Summer Bible Conference Report (Aug. 19-21):

In this conference, all the community members participated in doing something for the program. The workshop presentation on “The Prayer of the Lord” based on R. C. Sproul’s book was a unique one. 21 leaders presented their finding on Jesus’ teaching on how to pray (Matt. 6:1-14). The small group dynamics helped us build personal relationships and unity in our community. Dr. Jeremiah Lee’s main message was on making disciples of all nations through a personal love relationship with King Jesus. This gospel imperative expresses the King’s love for all people on this planet earth. The King’s utmost desire is to bring all nations in unity with the Godhead. (Matt. 28:18-20) We learned that unity in the church is not optional, but it is an imperative. We must get out of self-centeredness and “go” to places like the campus, school, work places and neighborhoods and share our faith in obedience to the Great Commission. We believe that the reign of God will be unleashed in HAVARD, MIT, BU, TUFTS, UCONN (Storrs, CT), UNH (Durham, NH), UMASS, NE, WNEU (Springfield, MA), and 39 other universities and 19 national research institutes in the greater Boston area through fervent prayer. 

One of the underlying themes of our conference was to “empower” the mushrooming young leaders in our community. (Matt. 6:39) A program we called “Youth Blast” unleashed the potential of all our young growing leaders. We banked on Joanna Jung’s art work for our program front page for the last 2 years. She described her art vision very well in front of the whole crowd. Chunho, Jinho, and David Lee, Jr’s performance, “Amazing Grace” was truly amazing! Sharon Lincoln’s public speech ability amazed us greatly. Isaac Jung’s skillful viola performance was so satisfying. Grace Koo’s life testimony shared her inner struggles beautifully. She is looking forward to freshman year in UMASS Amherst this fall. This time we had a college student small group under Sarah Lincoln’s mentorship and it was indeed refreshing. Sam Toh from Chicago UBF ran a two day youth program.

Humility is one thing we care about in our community. A group of women set out for 40 days of prayer exploration for revival in our community. We prayed a lot during preparation and at the conference. Sarah Kang led a special prayer session on Sunday morning. This prayer effort serves as evidence that the reign of God was unleashed in our hearts. We realized that it takes a humble heart to pray. We could not have prayed with a proud heart. On the whole, this conference was the celebration of the presence of God’s love in us and amongst us. We are grateful that God is bringing us together through forgiveness as community of love. We humbly announce that we are closer than last year to accomplish our dream for ‘complete unity’ in our community.  

Our vision and prayer in the greater Boston area UBF after the conference is to establish a regular meeting every two months for growing youth, and make space for young professionals to flourish.
