On March 6th we arrived at the capital city of Colombo in Sri Lanka from Cochin, India. Sri Lanka, officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka was under British colonial rule until it achieved its independence as the Dominion of Ceylon in 1948. It is an island country in South Asia near south-east India. The country's recent history has been marred by a thirty-year civil war which decisively ended when Sri Lankan military defeated Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in 2009.

A diverse and multicultural country, Sri Lanka is home to many religions (70% of Buddhist, 13% of Hindi, 10% of Islam and 7% of Christian), ethnic groups, and languages.  Its population is about 20,000,000 and its area is 65,610 km2 (25,330 sq mi).

It is here that two missionary families have been serving the ministry. M. Barnabas Baek has been here for about 20 years despite his financial difficulties. Currently his visa problem was resolved as a result of a private education institute (ED Institute) he established for Korean students who are preparing their college entrance exam in the region. M. Luke and Sarah Jun's family who were sent from Kangreong UBF also have been actively serving the ministry for about six years. They also work at the ED Institute as teachers which resolved their visa and financial problems too.  There brother Gideon and sister Erasha are faithfully growing as disciples of Jesus. In addition, there are five brothers and sisters who have been participating in one to one Bible study and Sunday worship service as well. Especially they are praying for M. Sarah Jun's health because she confessed that sometimes she fell into depression due to culture shock since actively bringing many new students to Bible study and to other missionaries as she did in Korea.

On Saturday 4pm we shared graceful testimonies together. By God's grace M. Aroma Baek (Wife of M. Barnabas Baek) has been successfully managing the ED institute in addition to raising their three sons well. God was so pleased with M. Barnabas's faith and has blessed their ED Institute and their ministry abundantly with many sheep through the Holy Spirit. M. Luke Jun, six months ago, began to pioneer a new campus at Open University.
