Part I. 2014 Annual Review

‘Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction..” (2 Timothy 4:2)

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (He 4:12)

In 2014 I chose 2 Timothy 4:2 and Hebrew 4:12 as annual key verses of our ministry. In obedience to these key verses firstly I wanted to struggle with the word of God more deeply and honestly and secondly to preach the words of God diligently regardless of no visible fruits.

As I look back last year, I cannot but confess that I have not been faithful to obey these keys verses. I was lazy and often yielded to my sinful nature; despair, selfishness, self-centeredness, pride, immorality and seeking self-glory

However, God has been faithful to this unworthy sinner. He has been with me with his living words of promises and the grace of Jesus Christ. Throughout the last year we studied the Gospel of Matthew on Sunday. During the spring semester for the first time we rented a school class room near the campus and had a worship service there. Several times sheep (Gabriel) came to worship service and it was a great encouragement. Most of all, God gave me strength through his words even though I did not do my best to prepare the message.

Christian Morasse has been studying the Bible faithfully for the last several years. Last year, he completed the study of the book of Genesis. He was a pharmacy student. But he changed his study direction and decided to pursue a major in education from this year. I pray that he may find a clear life direction and mission from God. I pray that he may come to our Sunday worship service or conference. May God lead his life according to God’s will and raise him as a disciple of Jesus and shepherd for Quebecois students.

I thank God for enabling our family to attend the Canadian missionary conference on Labor Day. Even though it was short, we were encouraged through Bible study and message. We learned the importance of having true worship toward God.

Thank God also that I could participate in Bible studies with missionaries in Canada and USA online. Last year, we studied the book of Judges, Ecclesiastes and Philippians. Studying Ecclesiastes was the first time for me. The study of Ecclesiastes helped me to seek the Creator God and to have a thankful heart, remembering God’s grace in this meaningless world.  I really thank God for Dr. Paul Hong and M. Paul Lee for their service to support online Bible studies.

Lastly, I thank God for my dear wife Teresa Jang and my son Peter Jr. who have been with me in the course of the lonely struggle of serving the pioneering work. My co-worker Teresa has been a faithful prayer mother and my son Peter Jr. participated in Sunday worship service faithfully as an offering and music servant.

Part II. 2015 Key verse and prayer topics

1. 2015 Key verse

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1: 8)

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs." (John 21:15)

This year I chose Joshua 1:8 and John 21:15 as key verses aiming for two directions. Firstly, I pray that I may struggle to live according to God’s words everyday instead of looking at the visible situation. God trained the people of Israel for 40 years in the desert to raise them up as a holy people who live up to God’s words. After 40 years of desert training as they entered the promised land, God gave his word to the people of Israel through Joshua, ‘Do not let this book of the Law depart from your mouth, meditate on it day and night’. I pray that I may study and meditate on the words of God and live according to them faithfully this year. Secondly, I pray that I may struggle to be with God‘s flock of sheep in obedience to Jesus’ command to his disciple Peter. May I never forget the grace and love of my Lord Jesus and struggle to share his love by feeding his flock of sheep. May I go to campus faithfully and serve God’s sheep through one to one Bible studies.
