Matthew 6:1-16
Key verse 6:9
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name”
Read verses 1-8. What two “acts of righteousness” did Jesus mention? Why should giving and prayer be done in “secret”? Why is it unnecessary to use many words in prayer?
Read verse 9-10. Why did Jesus teach that we should we pray to our “Father” in heaven? Why should our first prayer topic be “hallowed be our name”? What does the prayer topic “your kingdom come” mean?
Read verses 11-15. In verses 11-13 Jesus shared three more prayer topics. What is the significance of each? Why is it so important to forgive others their sins?
4. Read verse 16. If we fast, how should our face look? Why?
