Suffering for the Gospel

2 Timothy 1:1-18

Key Verse 1:8

So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God,

1. Read v. 1. What does "the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus" refer to? (1 Timothy 2:5-6; 4:9-10; 6:12-16; John 1:12-13; 3:16; Romans 10:9-13)

2. Read vs. 2-7. What does "the gift of God" refer to? (14; Acts 2:38; 10:45; John 4:10; Revelation 22:17) Why does God give it to his children? (Luke 4:10) What does it mean to "fan into flame"?

3. Read vs. 8-12. Why should a believer not be ashamed to testify about our Lord or ashamed of a gospel servant such as the Apostle Paul, but rather join in suffering for the gospel? (Colossians 1:24; Romans 1:16)

4. Read vs. 13-18. How many deserted Paul? Yet, how was Onesiphorus different? What is Paul's prayer for him on that day?
