The Living Hope Through Christ’s Resurrection (1Pe 1:3)
By James Lee (Africa Coordinator)
On 17-20 August, we had the 2017 Southern Africa Bible conference at Stoney Ridge, Johannesburg. It felt like being on a high mountain far away from the troubles of the world, where we could spend time in Jesus' glorious presence through singing, praying, Bible study, testimony writing, listening to God's Word and having fellowship with God's people.
Praise and thanks be to God for blessing Africa Northern Region Bible conference richly which was held in Juba, South Sudan on August 11–13/2017. The title was "Participate in Jesus’s suffering" Although we pray for 70 attendance God send 94 People to the conference 84 adult and 10 children including two from USA, two from South Africa, four from Korea, and seven from Egypt and one from Uganda.
Joshua 24:15: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as chfor me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
Thank God for blessing the Chicago HBF Bible School Camping Trip. 22 people camped out at Tim Fitch's lake house. We studied "Love." There were two Bible studies on 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 and Romans 12:3-21. JoJo Yu, John Lee, and Helen Kim led the Bible studies. We all participated in a Spiritual Gifts Inventory to think about how we can use our gifts to love and serve one another. Helen Kim led a workshop on 7 displays of Jesus' love for others. We finished on Sunday with messages by Paul Won and John Wang.Though out the weekend we enjoyed fun and fellowship with one another.
We are pleased to announce the birth of our daughter Tabitha on July 20th. She is doing well and Esther recovers well. With 55 cm in length and weight of 4080 g some clothes were too small at her birth already. She can smile and look into ones eyes and is quite peaceful.
Tabitha in the bible (Acts 9) was a disciple of Jesus and it is written that she was always doing good and helping the poor. However, she became known not (only) through her deeds for God but rather through what Jesus did for her. Jesus raised her from the dead. Many people believed in the Lord through this.
