WHEN CHRIST IS LORD IN RELATIONSHIPS
Ephesians 6:1-9 Friday, November 6
Key Verse: 6:1

1. Children, obey your parents (1-4).
The command to submit to one another (5:21) pertains to all of our relationships. Children should submit to their parents by respecting and obeying them. When they do so, God promises them a long life and a life that goes well. Parents should not make selfish demands or provoke their children to anger. Their children do not belong to them, but to God. Therefore, the parents' primary mission is to lead their children to faith in Jesus and to help them to have a God-centered worldview.

2. Serve wholeheartedly as serving the Lord (5-9).
Though slavery is no longer a part of our culture, these verses are pertinent to the modern workplace. God's people should work for their employers as if they were working for the Lord. They should work hard, be diligent and honest, and find and do God's will for them in the workplace. Employers should treat their employees in the same way, for all must give an account before the Lord someday.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be a child, a parent, and a worker who honors you at home and at work.

One Word: Spiritual order gives peace and joy
