| Ephesians 5:1-14 | Tuesday, November 3 |
1. Be imitators of God (1-2).
As God's children, we have a Father in heaven who loves us. We should imitate our loving Father by living a life of love. God's Son Jesus showed us the example. He loved his Father by obeying his Father's will for world salvation. He loved us so sacrificially that he gave up his own life in order to save us from our sins. We should love others with the same intensity.
2. Live as children of light (3-14).
When we love others as Christ loved us, there is no room in our lives for sexual immorality, impurity, greed, or filthy speech. In fact, immoral, impure, and greedy people cannot inherit the kingdom of God. When we lived according to our sinful nature, we were darkness. However, we are now light in the Lord because Christ shines on us. His light exposes our fruitless deeds so that we can repent and be purified. When Jesus shines on us, we can be light in this dark world and please God.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for loving me so much. Help me to love as you do. Help me to live in the light. As God's children, we have a Father in heaven who loves us.
