DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
Ephesians 4:25-32 Monday, November 2
Key Verse: 4:30

1. Behavior God desires in us (25-30).
Our new self has been created to be like God (24). Therefore, we must not lie to others, sin in anger, hold onto anger, or steal, because these are not of God. Such attitudes and actions give the devil a foothold in our lives. Rather, we must get rid of all anger before the sun goes down. We must work with our own hands, not only for ourselves, but also to give something to others in their need. Instead of lies, we must speak the truth and wholesome words that build others up. When we do these things, we will not grieve the Holy Spirit.

2. Be kind and compassionate (31-32).
Our outward actions reflect what is in our hearts. When we harbor bitterness, rage, and anger against others, these things will come out and affect the way we treat them. We must rid our hearts of these things and depend on the Holy Spirit. God is kind and compassionate to sinners like us, so we ought to be the same. As we have been forgiven in Christ, we should also forgive one another.

Prayer: Lord, change me on the inside so that I may do what pleases you and build up others.

One Word: Do not grieve the Holy Spirit
