GOD SAVED BABY MOSES
Exodus 2:1-10 Thursday, September 2
Key Verse: 2:10

1. Moses' parents (1-4).
Like the midwives, Moses' parents (Jochebed and Amram) feared God and did not obey the king's murderous edict. When their second son was born, they saw that he was special. Indeed, God had a great purpose for this child. So she hid him for three months from the authorities. Finally, she put him in a boat-basket along the bank of the Nile river. She must've prayed to God to take and use her son. By faith she did what she could, praying for God's intervention (Heb 11:23).

2. From a slave child to an adopted prince (5-10).
By God's providence, Pharaoh's daughter found the baby boy in the basket and was moved to adopt him as her own son. The baby's sister (Miriam) saw this and persuaded her to hire a Hebrew nursing mother to help. So she went and got her own and the baby's mother! Moses' own mother got some time to raise and instill in him faith in God. When he was old enough, she gave him again to Pharaoh's daughter and Moses became a prince of Egypt.

Prayer: LORD, help me to know that you are working even in dark situations. Help us to offer ourselves and our children to you for your great purpose. Move us to pray for your intervention.

One Word: Saved for God's great purpose
