2010 Northern Latin America (Mexico-Central America) Summer Bible Conference was held at Teotihuacan, Mexico on July 22-25. God blessed this conference with the abundant and powerful words of God. The title of the conference was “Jesus is the Truth” (Jn 14:6). 55 foreign delegates from France, Germany, Canada, Korea and USA participated. From our region 397 came and altogether 452 attended. Dr. John Jun, Dr. Henry Park, M. Timothy Rhee, Abraham Hwang and Dr. Jose Ahn trained all messengers.
For the first time, there were three regional Latin America in three places; Mexico, Bolivia and Venezuela because Latin America is a big continent and we wanted to invite as many brothers and sisters as possible. For the preparation of these conferences, brothers and sisters prayed 1,000 times for each conference making 3,000 times in total. The opening message was delivered by M. Timothy Rhee, “To do new things” based on Isaiah 43:19-20. He gave us God’s vision that Latin America could be a kingdom of priests and send out missionaries.
First, all messengers memorized their messages. Since messengers memorized their messages, the words of God gained power and moved all hearts of people. Raul Monoz(CU) revealed Jesus who is the truth through his message and Ernesto from Costa Rica who had no experience for delivering a message, revealed the love and grace of Jesus through healing an invalid for 38 years. Jorge Antonio who is pioneering Rep. Dominica last 3 years by himself, expressed Jesus’ love for the Samaritan woman. Blas from Acatlan UBF who is 60 years old, confessed how God blessed his business when he first sought his kingdom and righteousness. During his message, he danced like a bird in the air in his 60’s going around the podium. While Alejandro from Guadalajara was delivering his message, suddenly the power went out. But since he memorized his message, he delivered it with loud voice and moved all our hearts. Isidro from El Salvador revealed the forgiveness and love of Jesus and moved all sinners’ hearts. Dimas from Guatemala who made many girls cry, revealed the mind of Jesus. David Leal from Iztacala who used to be a selfish medical doctor, confessed true faith and obedience through the faith of the centurion. The last message was delivered by Sergio from CU, Mexico with humor in spite of a serious passage (Mk 13:1-37). Dr. John Jun emphasized to make disciples of all nations in his closing message.
Second, diligent group Bible studies and testimony writing. The conference place was located at a beautiful lake with all kinds of recreation facilities. But it rained during the entire conference. So all attendants could not participate but only concentrate in group Bible studies, testimony writings and sharing.
Third, it was an artistic conference. Before the opening message, Acatlan UBF and Guatemala brothers and sisters performed Mexico and Guatemala traditional folk dances. Guadalajara members served Mexico Matsete (sword) traditional dances and pantomime on the second night. Iztacala UBF introduced a fisher dance and CU UBF performed post-modern-style humorous drama on the third night. We saw how much all brothers and sisters prepared this conference with their mind and hearts
Fourth, it revealed how God helped each person through their testimonies and chapter reports. We were all moved by life-testimonies of Maria from Iztacala, Ailep from CU and Maria from Guadalajara. We also saw the great work of God through national reports from Guatemala, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Dominican Republic. We prayed that we may pioneer not only 33 nations in Latin America, but also send out to other continents.
Fifth, a victorious conference in spite of Satan’s attack. Before the conference, a coworker parked his car in front of a Bible center. After preparing the conference diligently, his car was gone when he wanted to go home at night. Few people had car accident on the way to the conference. Some people from USA and Central America drove 30-40 hours. We pray that those people may return to their countries without any problem.
We had a special prayer meeting and offering for the Central Latin America Conference in Bolivia on the last day. May God accept our prayer and offering for the Central Latin America Conference and make Latin America as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
